England new boys Jarrod Bowen and James Justin have been presented with their first official England caps before the squad’s clash with Germany.

After losing 1-0 against Hungary on Saturday, the Three Lions’ Nations League campaign in Group A3 continues away against Die Mannschaft in Munich on Tuesday evening.

Bowen and Justin both made their England debuts against Hungary, and boss Gareth Southgate has made sure to officially mark the occasion of their international bow.

Ahead of training for the Germany tie, Southgate called his squad together in a circle at their Munich base and handed over the commemorative garments with legacy number attached as the pair received a round of applause.

He said: ‘I know we were disappointed with the result the other day, but it was still an enormous moment for two of the lads making their debuts.

‘James and Jarrod, These caps have your own legacy number on – that’s basically your place in history… it’s a nice thing to keep and I’m sure you’ll share that with all the people who have helped you along the way. Congratulations’.

Bowen was a rare bright spot for England against Hungary, while Justin struggled and was withdrawn at half-time for Bukayo Saka with a calf complaint.

The Leicester full back looks likely to miss the Germany tie after sitting out training on the eve of the match.

Defenders Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori were included as part of the 24-man training squad after recovering from knocks which ruled them out of the Hungary game.

Crystal Palace centre half Guehi is fit and in contention to face Hansi Flick’s side, but Tomori has been ruled out.

Manchester City attacking midfielder Phil Foden has tested positive for Covid-19 and has not joined England for their two away fixtures – but may feature in the home ties against Italy and Hungary on Saturday and Tuesday.
