England were beaten 1-0 by Hungry on Saturday evening during their Nations League fixture despite manager Gareth Southgate‘s warning.

As it stands, England have six games before the World Cup in November with only one of those — the Nations League fixture against Germany on September 26 — at Wembley.

They were hoping to build some momentum before the tournament with wins against the likes of Hungry. However, it was not meant to be.

Sportsmail have since analyised the performance of each players during their fixtures on Saturday evening.

ENGLAND (343)

Jordan Pickford – 6

Was probably expecting a relatively quiet evening but it didn’t turn out that way as Hungary impressed going forward.

Kyle Walker – 6.5

Had more work to do than he’d have anticipated but breezed through the challenge before his substitution.

Conor Coady – 6.5

Made some crucial clearances and interceptions as the Hungarians caused England no-end of difficulties in defence.

Harry Maguire – 6

Still looks short of his best form. The end of the season can’t come soon enough for the Manchester United skipper.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 5.5 –

Hit and miss with his delivery from wide areas and generally flattered to decisive on his latest international opportunity

Jude Bellingham – 6

Showed composure in the tightest of situations. Never flustered but the teenager needed to show more urgency.

Declan Rice – 6

Offered protection to England’s back three but England needed more creativity in midfield to break Hungary down.

James Justin – is 5.5

Perhaps it was nerves but debutant was sloppy. Received lengthy treatment before being substituted at half-time.

Mason Mount – 5.5

Mucked in defensively as he always does but struggled to impact the game from an attacking sense for England.

Harry Kane – 6

Cut a frustrated figure as England’s lone striker. He’ll need far better service if he is to break the all-time goalscoring record before next season.

Jarrod Bowen – 7

The only positive to come from an entirely miserable evening for England. Doesn’t look out of place at this level.

Subs: Saka 6.5 (Justin 46); Stones 6 (Walker 61); James 5.5 (Alexander-Arnold 61); Grealish 5.5 (Mount 61); Phillips (Coady 79)

Subs not used: Trippier, Pope, Ward-Prowse, Gallagher, Ramsdale, Sterling, Abraham.

Gareth Southgate: Were outplayed and outthought by the opposition. England lacked ideas and were too content in playing long. Why play three-at-the-back versus Hungary?. 5.5
