Recently, former NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon and his wife, Ingrid Vandebosch, made an appearance at a gala. However, this was no ordinary gala, as it was for a charity dedicated to breast cancer research. From the looks of it, the ex Hendrick Motorsports driver is looking to give his support behind this noble cause. Already, he has established the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation to fight against pediatric cancer.

Hendrick Motorsports Vice Chairman Jeff Gordon Urges William Byron “Pay Back”
Against Joey Logano for Darlington Debacle

The Hendrick Motorsports vice-chairman definitely needed this as a bit of a distraction. Especially after what happened at the Darlington Raceway last weekend.

Why would Jeff Gordon be disappointed?

At Darlington, the Track Too Tough to Tame, William Byron looked like a surefire winner. However, the #22 Team Penske of Joey Logano came tanking up behind him in the closing laps. Logano performed a classic bump and run on the race leader.

This tactic pretty much put Byron in the wall, to the dismay of Jeff Gordon and Hendrick Motorsports. It also did not help that the other cars had mixed results at the Darlington Raceway.

In the end, he was classified in a lowly 13th place. On the bright side though, the highest Hendrick Motorsports car was Chase Elliott in a fine 5th place. The bad news was that Alex Bowman and defending champion Kyle Larson both crashed out earlier in the race.

At least they can all take comfort in the fact that all four of them have qualified for the 2022 Cup Series Playoffs. In other words, there is still hope for Jeff Gordon and the rest of Hendrick Motorsports for a Cup title.
