Max Verstappen and consistency go hand in hand! The driver has either won or ended on the podium in all the races he has finished this season. Even P3 was a big disappointment for the Dutch fans who arguably have a habit of watching Verstappen win. In fact, before Monaco, the driver had won 3 races in a row.

This has been a long journey for the Dutch Lion, who has been on a winning streak since 2021. He has arguably found the right direction ever since he dominated the 2021 season, and just knows how to land himself in regular podium finishes. Moreover, this consistency has him sitting on the top of the drivers’ standings.

Max Verstappen is Mr. Consistency

In Verstappen‘s last 26 races, remarkably, Monaco GP was only the second time he was out of the top two. Though Verstappen had to settle for P4 after the qualifying was red flagged in the last minutes, a strategy masterclass gifted him a P3. He now sits 9 points ahead of his title rival Charles Leclerc, and might just be on his way for another championship victory this season.

The last time Verstappen was out of the top two was at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2021. Arguably, the Dutchman made no mistake of his own when a McLaren shunned him on Lap 1, as he went tumbling down the order. That was a rather ‘chaotic’ race where the Dutchman tried to muscle his way past, only to finish P9.

Even in the 2022 season, the Red Bull driver has been a little unlucky in the beginning. He did not finish twice, which caused a wide margin of 40 points between him and Leclerc. Remarkably, the driver won three races back to back, making no mistakes, closing the gap, and finally taking the lead in the drivers’ standings.

Can Verstappen win in 2022 again?

With this pace and Red Bull‘s excellent strategies, it is safe to say that Verstappen might win this season again. Their rival Ferrari is suffering from their own mistakes, which team Red Bull has taken advantage of on several occasions. Despite a seemingly better-paced car, the Italian team has been prone to mistakes.

They cost Leclerc an easy win in Spain as he retired early. Strikingly, the team even yielded to the pressure of being Number 1 in Monaco, as they failed to react to a Red Bull challenge.
