Lewis Hamilton‘s future in Formula One was all but guaranteed when Mercedes confirmed he will attend their car launch next Friday.
The 37-year-old’s continued participation in the sport was in doubt after the controversial circumstances in which he lost out on the world championship to Max Verstappen during the last lap of the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi.
Mercedes have called for changes at the FIA – with race director Michael Masi’s role the subject of a major review – but it now seems certain Hamilton will drive on in search of an eighth title.

Mercedes revealed that he will join 23-year-old Briton George Russell and team principal Toto Wolff at their 2022 unveiling.
In a news release previewing their car launch event, due to take place on February 18, the Silver Arrows specifically referred to Hamilton and new face George Russell as ‘our 2022 drivers’.
Hamilton ended his self-imposed social media absence a week ago.
