Once again, the NASCAR Next Gen cars have been the talk of the town. Now that the halfway stage of the season has passed, one has to wonder how the drivers are adjusting to the cars. In light of this, NASCAR spotter TJ Majors spoke about the drivers who have best adapted to the car.

He said, “I think this benefits a guy like Chase Briscoe. Him and Ross, this benefits their style. They’ll be the first guys we look at, what gear are they using, are they going to third. Those are the first two guys that’ll [benefit] you know.”

In a way, he is right because Chastain has been one of the breakout stars this season. With two wins under his belt, he lies second in the points standings. It was surprising that Briscoe and Chastain stood out, especially among the likes of Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Denny Hamlin.

Can the two NASCAR drivers keep up the momentum?

Admittedly, both drivers are more than capable of holding their own. Chastain is under no pressure, as his two wins guarantee him a qualifying spot in the Playoffs. The same cannot be said for his teammate Daniel Suarez, who just has one Cup win. Briscoe is in the same boat and will have to sweat it out a little and hope that NASCAR does not have any more new winners. Otherwise, his only other option is to gun for a win or two himself and secure his Playoff berth.

It will be a difficult task because the Stewart-Haas Racing team is not as strong as its rivals. In fact, he is the only SHR driver to bag a Cup win, while the likes of Kevin Harvick, Aric Almirola, and Cole Custer are winless. So, most of the burden is on the #14 driver’s shoulders. Without a doubt, a driver of Harvick’s caliber would want to help him ease that burden. One cannot help but think that that first win of the season is coming for Harvick. The question is, will it be during the regular season or will it be during the Playoffs, long after he has missed the cut?
