LIV Golf, since its initiation, has become one of the most controversial topics in the world of sports. The Greg Norman-led tour is today one of the highest-paying sports leagues across the globe. Norman has been successful in luring amazing talents from the PGA Tour, including Patrick Reed and other well-known names.

But, a LIV Golfer participating in the BMW PGA Championship will face some repercussions for their decision.

Patrick Reed and other LIV Golf rebels face a major setback before the BMW Championship

The PGA Tour has made its point several times by warning players about joining the LIV Golf league. But due to the high-paid deals, many PGA Tour players have joined the new Saudi-funded league. According to Jay Monahan’s statement, the PGA Tour memberships of all the LIV Golf defectors were suspended.

But that is not all. The golfers are now receiving additional sanctions from the PGA Tour and its associates. The BMW Championship recently announced that all LIV golfers participating in the tournament will be treated a little differently. According to their new rules, LIV Golf players will not be allowed to wear LIV logos to the championship. They are also not required to appear at the pro-am, and will not be given featured group coverage.

“We would kindly ask you to consider not wearing LIV-golf apparel.” a letter sent to the LIV Golf players said. The reason mentioned for these actions was “out of respect for our broadcasters and your fellow competitors”. Similarly, LIV Golf has also made strict rules regarding wearing other logos at their events.

Golf fans are giving all kinds of mixed reactions to the news since it was shared on Twitter by several golf pages. While some said that it was a “pathetic” decision and didn’t make sense, others felt that it was a “reasonable” thing to do. The PGA Tour is not ready to give up on its continuous back-and-forth action with the LIV Golf league. However, some players are still suggesting that the only way to deal with the situation is a merger between both tours. But it doesn’t look like Jay Monahan or Greg Norman are looking forward to finding a solution together.
