When it comes to pro football, the former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is a notoriously competitive personality. After taking a halt to his career in 2020, the 43-year-old superstar is again planning to make a comeback. However, he recently underwent surgery on his left shoulder, keeping him away from the field for a few more weeks.

According to multiple reports, this situation can be viewed from two perspectives. If he ever wishes to make a comeback and play in the quarterback position, Brees can make it happen after September this year.

Meanwhile, his rehab and recovery from the injuries will definitely take some time which may even result in shutting down his plans for the 2022 season. “Knowing Drew Brees over the years, I do not take seriously his recent social media posts about unretiring to play QB in the #NFL…” ESPN reporter Ed Werder wrote on Twitter.

Even if we consider that Brees loses his chance in the upcoming season, he can resort to keeping himself in shape and fit for future opportunities.

Last season, Jameis Winston got sidelined from the team after incurring season-ending injuries. Further, backups Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian got included in the COVID-19 list. It created an open shot for the QB Drew Brees to make a return.

However, he resorted to enjoying his golf days despite interests from the team management. So the future is still bright for the veteran.

What did Drew Brees say about the ongoing rumors?

The rumors were initially sparked by Brees, himself while interacting with the fans on Social Media earlier this week. While talking about his broadcasting future, Brees accidentally threw out a phrase saying, “I may play football again”. It took no time for this statement to spread like a wildfire.

His intention of leaving his broadcasting gig with NBC sports caught everyone’s attention; however, the star came forward to clarify the matter.

“Despite speculation from the media about my future this fall, I’m currently undecided,” Brees said. He continued, “I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids, or all of the above. I’ll let you know,” he wrote on Twitter.

Similarly, Brees joked about his interest to return after the Saints recruited local talents Jarvis Landry and Tyrann Mathieu. “Man..signing Jarvis Landry and Tyrann Mathieu makes me want to come back and play again!!! Great additions…leaders and players!” he said.
