Serena Williams is yet to make a comeback to the tour. Out from the tour since last year’s Wimbledon, the 23-time Grand Slam champion is expected to make a comeback in the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. Even though Serena might be on a break on the game side, that doesn’t seem to be the case on her business end. A few days back, Serena Williams, through her venture capital firm Serena Ventures, invested in a Houston-based startup, OURS.

OURS is a newly launched platform focusing on couples and premarital counseling. As per the company, it will focus on providing preventive care for couples during big life moments. Starting with the mission of creating stronger, healthier, and more intentional relationships, the firm wants to make couples counseling more accessible, destigmatized, and designed for couples today.

Targeting the $5 trillion health market, the firm recently closed its pre-seed and seed round. As per reports, the company raised $5 million from investors like Serena Ventures and others.

Diving into the personal life of Serena Williams, she is known to live a happily married life with Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian. Even though the two married in 2017, their story dates back to 2015. Taking the 7-year long period into consideration, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Serena is aware of the importance of relationship wellbeing.

In a press release published by the firm, Serena was quoted saying, “Research shows that relationships are the most important factor to our overall health and wellbeing, which is an area that I’m hyper-focused on in my personal life.” “When I learned about what the team was doing, I knew this was something we needed to support,” she further added.

Serena Williams has always been of the idea that young talent should be given a platform to perform. Moving a step ahead with this idea, in 2014, Serena launched Serena Ventures. The venture capital firm has invested in a total of 77 startups to date. Raising $111 million in March, the firm is expected to invest in many more startups in the coming future.
