The NFL training camps have officially begun, and players have started devoting their entirety to the game. It is the time when rookies and new joiners get to interact and build bonds with their new quarterbacks and other players in the franchise. Recently, the Chiefs’ first-year wide receiver Justin Watson, who had also played with the Buccaneers, revealed that the work ethics of Patrick Mahomes and his former quarterback Tom Brady are alike.

While speaking at the press conference for Kansas City, the 26-year-old affirmed that he was enjoying his time under new leadership. When asked about how different it was to play alongside Tom Brady in the Buccaneers and now with Mahomes, Watson revealed that the training camps look similar, and Mahomes’ discipline fancied him the most.

“Working with Pat, you see some many of the same characteristics, it’s no surprise that two great quarterbacks are similar in so many ways and just his competitiveness and mentality,” Watson said in the interview.

Moreover, the wideout appreciated the efforts taken by the signal-caller and his strategies on the field that helped him grow. “Hearing him talk through the offense, he is a great leader. I am really thankful to be working with a quarterback like Pat,” Watson said.

Indeed, there are tons of similarities between Mahomes and Brady on the football field. If we keep the age differences aside, both of them had similar experiences entering the league.

Brady was a 199th overall pick, a breakout decision that Belichick made helped the franchise dominate for two decades in the league. Similarly, Mahomes, who was doubted for his physique and throwing abilities, turned out to be a gunslinger. He won a Super Bowl title at the age of 24.

Patrick Mahomes was impressed by Watson’s performance

It turns out that Justin Watson had enough experience playing alongside the legendary quarterback at Tampa Bay. His blaze and techniques at the training camps received appreciation from Mahomes himself. “Watson’s been a pleasant surprise for me; that dude can roll,” Mahomes said to reporters.

“I remember he came down to Texas and I threw with him the first day. And I called Veach, and I was like ‘wait, how fast is this guy?because he was running so fast I was late on my throws,” he added.

Although Mahomes is healing from the wound of losing Tyreek Hill from the roster, it seems he got more weapons to rely upon. The 26-year-old quarterback is gearing up to play in his 6th NFL season. Will he make another Super Bowl run this season?
