Haas parted ways with Nikita Mazepin and his father’s company Uralkali because of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. And despite the partnership termination, Haas replaced Mazepin and continued on without the Uralkali funding. Haas later hired Kevin Magnussen to replace the Russian, but Mazepin is confident he can make a comeback to the sport.

Mazepin, ousted by Haas, is sure he will be back racing and traveling with the circus. The Russian explained he is an individual entity and they can not ban him from Formula 1. After situations get better with Ukraine, the Russian is “optimistic” about his return and says other teams are looking to work with him.

There’s no certain timeline for an opportunity to join F1 again, but whenever it comes, Mazepin is staying ready for it. “I am confident that in the future it will be possible to come back. As a result, I’m at the same weight and I’ve kept myself in good physical shape, so if such a challenge arises, I’ll be able to capitalize on it,” said the former Haas F1 driver to Russian daily Sport-Express. And while staying ready for an opportunity to rejoin F1, Mazepin dismissed a return to IndyCar. He revealed, “I’m not interested in IndyCar. Of course I can’t say what will happen tomorrow, but all my life, I wanted to get into Formula 1. I got there, but as they say, the appetite comes with eating and I have no doubts about what I could do in a competitive car.”

Nikita Mazepin might sue Haas for lost wages

Haas contracted Mazepin for 2022 as well, but for obvious reasons, cut ties with him at the beginning of the season. And they did the same with their title sponsors, Uralkali.

Recently, Mazepin explained that his sacking was an individual affair and Haas must pay his wages for 2022. “So they [Haas] made two separate decisions. I didn’t see my money, so we’re going to court,” claimed Nikita.

The comments alone might not bother Haas at the moment. However, if Nikita Mazepin takes them to court, it will be an added headache for the team.
