The 2022 MLB season is up and running with full forces. The next free agency is at least six months away from now, but the speculations around the next destination of Aaron Judge have become a hot topic in the league.

Notably, Aaron Judge is in the last year of his professional contract with the New York Yankees. Although the Yankees management offered him a renewal during the free agency, Judge refused the proposal and preferred to go into his free agency.

Aaron Judge is the engine of the New York Yankees. Apart from his gameplay, his leadership skill makes him even a more valuable player. Under his leadership, Judge has transformed the Yankees squad in the current season. Knowing he will be a free agent in November, not only the Yankees but there are other teams too who have their eyes set on the star player.

Is the New York Mets a new favorite to sign Aaron Judge?

Well, only Aaron Judge can tell that for which team he will play the next season. Per ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, the Steve Cohen-owned team is the new favorite to sign Aaron Judge in the 2023 free agency. Given Cohen’s unlimited bank balance, the Mets might be the next destination for Judge.

“It was impossible for me to have a conversation with an executive or an agent about this and not have Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, come up. Because as much as you want to talk about the top of the market and who is going to pay this amount…, you have to talk about Steve Cohen. We do not know where the end of his spending limits are,” said the ESPN panelist.

McDaniel also gave a few reasons why the Mets will target Judge in the 2023 off-season. The biggest concern for the Mets right now is the injury of Jacob deGrom and strengthening their middle order by signing Aaron Judge.

“Addressing the two biggest concerns on the team, bringing back Jacob deGrom, stealing the best player from the Yankees, and putting him in the outfield, solves a lot of problems. It’s probably a little more fun than buying modern art. I think that’s the most likely spot if it is not the Yankees,” McDaniel added.

Judge in 2022 MLB season

Currently, the Yankees slugger is in the form of his life. With 17 home runs in his name, no one is even close to Judge on the leaderboard. He has been crucial for the Pinstripes in the 2022 season.
