This Video of Jack Nicklaus Casually Draining a 102-Foot Putt Will Never Get Old

Jack Nicklaus is best described as a legend of the sport. A record-breaker, Jack has won the most major championship in the game’s history with 18 major trophies. He also has a remarkable record on the PGA Tour Champions, the senior tour. Now, as we edge closer toward the 2022 Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores Golf Club, let us have a look at this iconic Jack Nicklaus putt from the same course. 

In August 2010, Jack Nicklaus, Johnny Miller, Arnold Palmer, and Tom Watson played a ceremonial round at the Harbor Shores Golf Club. The event was to mark the grand opening of the golf course in Michigan. 

While on the 10th hole, Johnny Miller had a tricky putt which was around a 102-feet. And Miller did not think he could make it, as along with the distance, there were plenty of undulations on the green. However, Nicklaus stepped up and said, “Let me show you how to putt it.”

Jack, taking no practice stroke, came up and made the putt. He drained this incredibly long 102-feet putt, and the crowd went bonkers seeing Jack pull off this miracle. Hence, to date, whenever we talk about the Harbor Shores Golf Club, Jack’s moment of magic is inevitably brought up.

Was Jack Nicklaus still playing professional golf in 2010?

Jack Nicklaus made this miraculous putt in 2010. However, it is interesting to note that the Golden Bear retired from professional golf in 2005 itself. He had not played professional golf for over five years, which makes his putt even more unbelievable.

Jack last competed in the Open Championship aged 65. He sought retirement immediately after this event and only competed in invitational or noncompetitive events. His last competitive event was the Bayer Advantage Classic in Kanas, a PGA Tour Champions event. 

Indeed, the Golden Bear had an illustrious career. With 73 PGA tours and 18 major championship wins, fans consider him to be one of the greatest golfers to have played this game. Currently, Jack is 82, and we recently saw him at the Augusta National for the ceremonial tee shot.
