Brenden Aaronson and his form for RB Salzburg

Aaronson came through the Philadelphia Union academy before getting his move to Austrian club RB Salzburg. He plays as an attacking midfielder and has impressed this season. Leeds tried to sign him in the January transfer window, but Salzburg didn’t want to let him go in the middle of the season.

According to a report from The Athletic, the Premier League club is willing to pay a $28 million transfer fee for Aaronson’s services. The 21-year-old has played under Marsch at Salzburg and the manager wants to reunite with his young protege.

In two seasons with Salzburg, Aaronson has managed to score 13 goals and add 15 assists. That’s an impressive tally considering his young age, and Leeds have got their hands on a future USMNT superstar.

However, Raphinha has been heavily linked with a move away to FC Barcelona, and his departure would create the space for Brenden Aaronson’s arrival. Moreover, Marsch could even try and play Aaronson as a central attacking midfielder, with Kalvin Philips and Mateusz Klich covering behind him.
