Wales players celebrated qualifying for the World Cup by singing a version of the Shakira hit ‘Waka Waka’ at a bar owned by Gareth Bale in Cardiff.

Bale scored the only goal of the game as Wales beat Ukraine in a play-off to secure their place at a World Cup for the first time since 1958.

The players partied in the dressing room at the Cardiff City Stadium before taking their celebrations to Bale’s Elevens bar in the Welsh city.

There, the squad sang along to the Shakira tune – the official World Cup song for the 2010 tournament in South Africa – but replaced the words following their achievement.

The Wales players sang ‘we’re going to Qatar’ in place of the line ‘this time for Africa’.

Cardiff man Mark Harris posted a video showing him dancing on a table during the singalong.

Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey later shared footage on his Instagram of him and Chris Gunter celebrating with fans outside of Bale’s bar.

The jubilant scenes followed a bouncing atmosphere in the Wales dressing room, with Bale leading a rendition of a chant sung to the tune of the 1997 dance hit ‘Freed from Desire’.

‘Pagey’s on fire, your defence is terrified,’ the squad sang.

Wales sealed their spot at Qatar 2022 thanks to Bale’s free-kick, which was deflected into his own goal by Andriy Yarmolenko.

The Dragons will play rivals England, Iran and the United States at the World Cup in Qatar.
