Australian boxer Jason Moloney squared off with the Philippine champion Aston Palicte inside the Marvel Stadium on Sunday. They fought with the WBC Silver and the WBO international bantamweight title on the line. The following is what happened.

Aston Palicte fought out of the blue corner and Jason Moloney from the red. As soon as the bell rang, they both captured the center of the ring and exchanged a couple of jabs, followed by straight hands. Both the boxers maintained top guards and showed each other respect. Although Moloney pushed a few good right-hands, he landed nothing significant on Palicte in the first two rounds.

In the second round, Palicte showed better mobility and body movement. Comparatively more active than Moloney, he attempted a couple of combinations in the beginning. Both the fighters stood in proximity and threw punches to the body and head.

The big punch to seal the night

At the start of the third round, Palicte landed a good uppercut to Moloney’s body and became a little more offensive than in the past rounds. However, Moloney snatched his chance and put up praiseworthy combinations, unloading on Palicte.

He rattled Palicte and then dropped him on the ground – it was a jab followed by a clean right hand. Having won the fight, Moloney walked out of the ring and hugged Bob Arum in his sincere celebration.
