WATCH: Max Verstappen & Charles Leclerc Redefine F1 Rivalries With Spectacular Moment at Spanish GP

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc are currently fighting for the championship. But that doesn’t change the fact they’ve known each other since childhood and have great mutual respect for each other. Recently, the camera caught the two discussing their qualification results. Despite their on-track rivalry, it’s good to see the two drivers being respectful and showcasing sportsmanship.

Leclerc finished all the free practice sessions the fastest and even qualified on top of the grid. The Red Bull reigning champion was on a provisional pole, but Leclerc was three-tenths quicker than Verstappen on his final flying lap. Leclerc and Verstappen will start the race at P1 and P2, respectively. And even though there is a lot of competitive spirit, there’s mutual respect as well!

The Ferrari and Red Bull men shared a moment while walking down the pitlane after the qualifying. The two discussed their cars while walking. Max asked Leclerc about his spin in the Q3, “You had a moment?”

To which Charles simply replied, “Yeah!” Talking further, Max added, “Yeah the wind changed, Q1 the first time I arrived, I was like WOAH!”

The pair also discussed the upgrades to the F1-75 and Max seemed to think they worked. Verstappen said, “It seemed like what you guys brought worked,” to which Leclerc replied, “Yeah!” He also added, “But we changed a lot the car from yesterday cause yesterday we, we were quite happy on the short runs but the longer runs were (thumbs down sign).” 

To this Max said, “It seemed better in FP3,” and Charles replied, “Yeah.”

Even though the two fighting for the championship. It was nice to see the pair openly discussing their results.

Max Verstappen’s power issue in Q3

In the dying minutes of Q3 and on the last flying lap, Max Verstappen had to call a stop to his session. “I have no power,” was the cry on the team radio. But Christian Horner explained it wasn’t actually a power problem but rather a DRS issue.

This cost the Red Bull world champion a chance to start on pole for the race, a chance Charles Leclerc took with both arms! Max will still be in the front row with his only flying lap good enough for P2.
