When Colin Kaepernick began protesting in the NFL, he received a lot of backlash from every angle. He kneeled during the national anthem, and many considered it disrespectful to the country’s values. During his appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, NFL icon Tom Brady spoke his mind on the matter. Brady was clear about his thoughts and where he stood regarding them.

Talking about the matter, Brady said,We support what people are going through. You play sports long enough, everyone comes from something different. I think showing respect for everybody…in a locker room, a team full of guys trying to go in the same direction, you better have that empathy for everybody. That’s what sports are about,”

Tom Brady revealed that Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest led to a good and healthy conversation in the New England Patriots locker room. As a result, there was no outburst toward Kap from any Patriots player.

Two Patriots players also kneeled during the anthem after Donald Trump called out Colin Kaepernick. They were Malcolm Butler and Stephon Gilmore. The two defensive starlets of the New England Patriots didn’t shy away from protesting and voicing their concerns.

Later, Patriots owner Robert Kraft also released a statement regarding the matter. He said, “The right of people in this country to make statements or protests, peacefully, in a way that’s appropriate to them.

Since his protests, Colin Kaepernick has been out of the NFL. The former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers keeps trying to get back into the league, but so far he hasn’t been able to.

On the other hand, Tom Brady has continued his dominance in the NFL. He has now won seven Super Bowls and has shown no signs of stopping yet. Once again, his team will be among the favorites to win it all next season.
