ANTIQUES Road Trip expert Izzie Balmer has been left shocked after a “risky” pendant sold for a HUGE profit.

The TV star – who returned to BBC One alongside Tim Medhurst on Thursday – took the delicate Edwardian pendant to auction.

Auctioneer Izzie and her co-host, coin expert Tim headed to Wales in the hopes of finding some treasures to sell for profit at auction.

As she searched through items at a vintage store near Cardiff, she found a nine-carat rose gold pendant necklace for sale.

“I was looking at the back and hoping it would be a Mel Bennet or an Archibald Knox,” she told the cameras as she inspected the jewellery.

“Any number of one of the big names that you look for now. It does have a makers’ mark of H&S, which I’d have to research on.”

“It’s a turn of the century, your sort of tail end of arts and crafts,” she added of the risky piece, which she wasn’t sure would make money.

The necklace had been ticketed in the shop at £170 – but managed to haggle down the price to £140 with the shopkeeper.

“Oh, it’s whether or not to go for a risk,” she added. “I’m not sure I am that much of a risk-taker. I’m having an inner battle here.”

Izzie also took home a vintage breakfast set for £45 which she planned to take to auction alongside the jewellery piece.

Later on in the episode, Izzie’s bravery was seen paying off as the Edwardian necklace was seen bringing in a huge £100 profit.

“I genuinely would happily own this myself so I am just hoping at least two other people think the same,” she said.

The first bid for the pendant was £65 and the price started to “climb quickly” to £140, before continuing to go up to £240.

“Oh I can breathe,” she exclaimed as the price went up – with the hammer going down at £100 profit. “That’s incredible.”

It comes after an expert on Antiques Road Trip was branded a “beast” by his co-star after getting a nasty surprise at auction.

Antiques specialist Natasha, 35, was left in shock when her colleague managed to wrangle six-times the buying price of an ornament.

While looking around in a local antiques store, James, 58, spotted a small glass toucan figurine sat atop a small rock.

He went on to purchase the tiny item for a very affordable £15.

Later, he was reunited with co-host Natasha, and the pair headed to auction to see how much they could make for their items.

James’ hunch proved correct, as the first interest in the item was listed at a whopping £70, before it sold for a huge £95.
