JON Kay and Sally Nugent were both missing from the BBC Breakfast studio again during a major format change.

The BBC presenters are normally seen in the Salford studio together, but they ditched the red sofa for the second time this week on Tuesday morning.

Jon Kay anchored the show from St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh
Sally Nutched also ditched the studio and appeared from Buckingham Palace

On Monday, the hosts traveled to separate parts of the UK to provide special coverage of the Queen’s death.

Jon had appeared live from Edinburgh to mark the arrival of the Queen’s coffin from Balmoral, while Sally anchored the show from Buckingham Palace in London.

But the studio shake-up hadn’t changed on Tuesday as Jon was back in Edinburgh this morning and Sally was still in Buckingham Palace.

Jon was stood in front of St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, where the Queen’s coffin was placed to rest for 24 hours for members of the public to pay their respects.

Viewers were shown a live shot of mourners queuing up to enter the Edinburgh cathedral to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II after queuing through the night.

Opening the show, Jon said: “Good morning, welcome to Tuesday’s programme, and it’s an extraordinary sight isn’t it? The people you’re seeing now have queued for hours.

“Some of them six, seven hours through a chilly Edinburgh night to enter St Giles’ Cathedral and to file past the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II.”

However, those tuning into the show were soon left ridiculing the broadcaster for its “wall to wall” coverage of Her Majesty’s death.

Alongside an array of angry-faced emojis, one person penned: “The Queen passing away is sad, but this constant coverage on it needs to stop.”

Echoing their comments, someone else said: “Wall to wall coverage of the death of a very privileged women is sycophantic nonsense.”

While a third remarked: “With this blanket coverage, I wouldn’t be surprised if the BBC slapped a GoPro to the queen‘s coffin and let us watch its journey like one of those Arctic sled adventures.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
