The athlete made an almighty splash when he landed, and looked to be having a ball.

The Birdman Rally’s website explains that it’s a competition for ‘home-made gliders, hang gliders and human-powered aircraft’.

It was first held in 1976, before having break for six years and returning in 2004.

The rally was a welcome reprieve for Brendan, who is mourning the loss of his good friend, Shane Warne.

The one-time Carlton player broke down in tears as he spoke about the tragic death of his best friend during his live radio show on Monday morning.

Brendan, who played poker with the cricket legend just two weeks ago at his Melbourne home, said he was struggling ‘to come to terms’ with the news and was heartbroken for Warne’s young children – Brooke, 24, Jackson, 23, and Summer, 20.

‘I can’t stop thinking about them. Those poor kids have lost their dad,’ he said on his Fifi, Fev and Nick show. ‘They shared their lives with their dad and now they have to grieve with the world about their dad as well.

‘There’s nothing we can do to help, but I just hope they know that their dad was one of the best people anyone would ever meet. He was a great man, a good man.’

Warne died at age 52 on Friday from a suspected heart attack while holidaying in Koh Samui, Thailand with friends.
