Cameron Diaz recreated her iconic hair gel scene in the classic romantic comedy There’s Something About Mary in a promo clip for her wine brand Avaline on Tuesday.
The actress, 49, took to Instagram with the clip in which she was getting together for dinner with comedian Benito Skinner, who had headed to her home with boxes of her wine brand in tow.
Diaz is seen lounging in a green robe when the doorbell rings, and is heard in a voiceover saying, ‘Ooh they’re here, I love gay guys.’

When she opened the door, two incarnations of Skinner were on her doorstep – one in a white T-shirt and black pants, another in the red skirt Diaz wore in the hit 1998 comedy, black boots, and strands of hair stiffly standing up, with a box of her wine brand in each hand.
Diaz gave the pair a pensive look before shrugging, leaning forward, and transforming into her There’s Something About Mary persona, complete with a large gelled up strand of hair, as she beamed and struck multiple poses.
She and Skinner, both wearing red dresses with their hair standing up, cracked open cans of Avaline and toasted to end the clip.
Diaz captioned the Instagram clip: ‘@bennydrama7 bringing @avaline cans over was not the weirdest part of our dinner,’ with a laughing emoji, while Skinner added in the comment section, ‘CHEERS TWIN!!!’

Diaz, who shares daughter Raddix, two, with her musician husband Benji Madden, 43, starred in the 1998 film for directors Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly alongside an ensemble cast including Ben Stiller, Matt Dillon, Chris Elliott, Lee Evans, Sarah Silverman, Keith David and the late Markie Post.
She played the titular role of Mary, who is pursed by a collection of different suitors, with some misrepresenting themselves. The movie hit theaters in July of 1998 and took in more than $369 million worldwide, establishing the actress as an A-list headliner.
She went on to appear in high-profile films such as Any Given Sunday, Vanilla Sky, Charlie’s Angels and Shrek.
Diaz and her confidante Katherine Power launched their wine brand, which is produced with organic grapes, in 2020.

Speaking on the brand’s blog, Diaz explained how the business endeavor came to be.
‘When I was in my 20s, I had a really unique experience where I got to taste some amazing wine,’ she said. ‘Having the opportunity to hear from experts and drink some delicious wine gave me a whole new appreciation for it.
‘Fast forward to a few years ago, my good friend Katherine Power and I were catching up over a glass – as the wine started to flow, so did our conversation about it. We kind of had that moment where we were like, “God we love wine – what’s in it? Can we really drink this? How can we drink more of it?”‘
She added: ‘We started asking questions about our wine; which is so crazy because I had never done that before. I kind of just assumed that it was fermented grapes.’
Diaz said that in their initial research for the brand, she ‘assumed all wine was made from organic grapes.
‘It never occurred to me that wine could be made from anything other than a beautiful grape, but then we realized that there is in fact commercial farming in every category and no exception with wine.’
