Torvill and Dean slam Dancing on Ice fix rumours
JAYNE Torvill and Christopher Dean have weighed in on the latest Dancing on Ice fix row – and branded the topic “boring”.
This year’s series has been bogged down with accusations that the ITV show has kept celebrities in the competition just because they work for the same channel or because they’d become a fan favourite.
Corrie’s Sally Dynevor and Happy Mondays’ Bez both stayed in the show over better skaters.
But the skating legends, who have been judges on the show since it began in 2006, laugh off the claims.
Jayne said: “We’re used to it, aren’t we, Chris really?”
And when asked if they were bored of the narrative, Jayne added: “We are.”
Chris added: “There’s a sort of a fascination for entertainment factor characters like Bez who every show has, and it’s just about how long they sustain.
“And, eventually the audience decides, don’t they, how long it’s going to last.
“Bez did really well, he wanted to do his best and there was a lot of production and a lot of entertainment value.
“I think we can enjoy that at home on a wet, windy Sunday evening.
“We’re just judging what we see. But the majority of the time, it’s the viewers at home that are voting to keep people in.”
