EAMONN Holmes made a rare red carpet appearance on Thursday night as he attended the premiere of Cirque Du Soleil’s Luzia.

The 62-year-old was seen using a walking stick as he joined his GB News co-host Isabel Webster at the bash.

The newsreader has been relying on a stick in recent months after struggling with chronic back and leg pain.

Despite intensive physiotherapy and strong painkillers, the screen favourite recently said his daily challenges are impacting on his wife Ruth Langsford, who has to wait on him.

He told The Sun: “I don’t walk — it’s more of a wobble. It has been very difficult this year.

“My problem is a trapped sciatic nerve, but I don’t even know quite how it initially happened.

“For months now I haven’t been able to walk, sometimes at all, and it has really taken its toll on everyone around me too.”

Eamonn and Isabel have just started the breakfast show on the news channel after previously waking up the nation on Sky News Sunrise together, before leaving in 2016.

He famously presented daytime show This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford, hosting on Fridays and during holidays, for 15 years.

But fans were devastated when the couple were moved from their regular slot and replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

Sources have suggested Eamonn was furious — though ITV had initially said they would regularly replace weekday pairing Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby during their breaks.

In a recent interview with The Sun, Eamonn cautiously said he would rather not discuss his feelings about the departure, but tellingly added: “Put it this way, I’m looking forward to a move somewhere new where they’re pleased to have me. But I wish everyone well at ITV.”
