Since serial killer Meena Jutla has not only admitted to killing his daughter Leanna but was also sentenced for her crimes, Liam Cavanagh (portrayed by Jonny McPherson) has kept a distance from all the village drama.
In recent weeks, he has made a few exceptions, notably for stroke survivor Marlon Dingle and Will Taylor who has been accidentally shot by Gabby Thomas.
But while his life in the Dales is somewhat peaceful, his wife Leyla (played by Roxy Shahidi) continues to display signs that not all is well.
These become more and more evident for the doctor.
Next week, Liam can’t help but notice Leyla’s jittery behaviour over breakfast.
Later on, as Leyla tries to distract him and act normally, Liam clearly isn’t falling for her act.
He even suspects that she may be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Little does he know Leyla is hiding another kind of secret.

Emmerdale viewers know that Leyla Cavanagh is actually addicted to cocaine and has recently lost her regular supplier as Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) decided to take the steps to sobriety.
Leyla’s addiction is particularly hard to manage as she’s even incapable of finishing an interview with a journalist, claiming she feels unwell.
When Suzy finds coke in her bag, she realises Leyla has gone to another dealer and warns her about the dangers of buying drugs from somebody she doesn’t know.

Once she’s left alone with the cocaine, Leyla makes a drastic decision and washes the rest of the drugs down the sink.
Her supply has gone dry and she tries her best to act normal when her son Jacob speaks to her about university.
But that evening, as Take A Vow is buzzing with business as a queasy Leyla attempts to keep up – could her addiction be taking over?
Will Liam find out the truth or will he keep believing Leyla is suffering from PTSD?
