EMMERDALE viewers have slammed Paddy Kirk for brutally betraying his best friend Marlon Dingle as he recovers from his stroke.
The vet – who is played by actor Dominic Brunt in the ITV soap – has been consumed by his own guilt over his friend’s condition and failed to support him.

After finding any and every reason no to visit Marlon in the hospital, Paddy finally decided to accompany Rhona Goskirk on Monday’s episode.
But when they got there, they found Marlon asleep following his physio session and Paddy started having second thoughts.
Standing outside the hospital room, Paddy began to panic and told Rhona that he had to head back to the veterinary surgery to take care of some work.
But when Rhona returned to the village she found out that Vanessa had been doing all the work.
Paddy then emerged and finally came clean, telling Rhona that he can’t cope seeing his friend in that state.
“I’m sorry, I can’t pretend that I can handle this,” Paddy confessed.
A confused Rhona replied: “What do you mean? Do you mean Marlon?”
Paddy explained: “Yeah, every time I go there, every time I see him – I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to do and I feel like I don’t even recognise him.”

Rhona tried to reassure him that he’s still Marlon and blasted him for turning his back on his friend in his hour of need.
Paddy continued: “I know, maybe it’s me that’s different. I want to help, I want to be better but I don’t know how.”
A furious Rhona hit back: “Do you not think that’s how I feel?
“Look I know this is hard, it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do but Marlon’s not had a choice and neither should we.
“You know if this was the other way round, if this was you in that hospital bed, Marlon would never ever leave your side.”
Paddy looked downcast as he pondered on Rhona’s words.
ITV viewers were horrified by Paddy’s behaviour and slammed him for putting his own needs first.
One wrote: “some mate paddy ? Can’t even face going to see his best mate.”
Another posted: “Paddy stop being a pillock.”
A third added: “Who wants a best friend like Paddy, who only thinks of himself. Selfish git.”
Last week Paddy walked out and left Marlon alone after he came to from his operation.
Marlon’s eyes opened – but Paddy’s reaction left a lot to be desired.
“You’re awake!” he said before immediately jumping into a million questions Marlon had no chance of answering.
“Can you hear me? Can you speak? Marlon if you know who I am just blink twice. Marlon?” he said.
With Marlon’s condition meaning he couldn’t answer but Paddy’s words took a dark turn.
“Are you even you anymore?” he said to no response from Marlon.
“Right. I’ll go and get someone and let them know you’ve come round. I’ll be straight back.”
However after briefly telling a nurse Marlon was awake, Paddy walked out of the hospital leaving his friend alone.
