UNHINGED and vengeful Meena Jutla made her return to the Dales last week, ahead of Dawn and Billy’s Valentine’s Day nuptials.

But the evil nurse is only one of many serial killers in Emmerdale for whom murder is a pleasant pastime.

Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu)

From her first appearance in the eponymous village, in September, 2020, mad Meena has known just how to push Dawn’s buttons.

The nurse – and Manpreet Sharma’s sister – was first introduced as customer of the Hide café and was caught flirting with Billy Fletcher right under Dawn’s nose.

Known for her ill-fated flings with the personal and David Metcalfe, Meena has done a lot more than mess with matters of the heart.

Soon, the glamorous mask revealed the face of one of Emmerdale’s most notorious serial killers and she could add more victims to her tally.

Her current victims include:

Nadine Butler (date unknown)

Meena’s former best friend, whom she had grown obsessed with, even attempting to steal her life before killing her.

Meena killed her by gassing her car, later telling people she had committed suicide.

Nadine’s off-screen death triggered a murderous spree on-screen as Meena has desperately tried to cover her up tracks.

Leanna Cavanagh (July, 2021)

The teen was slowly closing in on Meena, which leads to her accidentally confessing she “didn’t mean” for Nadine to die.

Meena ran in pursuit of Leanna in the graveyard, finding her injured at the bridge.

Unhinged, she confesses to Nadine’s murder before pushing Leanna to her death, on the day of her 18th birthday.

She then took her engagement ring (given to her by Jacob Gallagher) to wear it on a necklace.

Andrea Tate (October, 2021)

Discarded a first time by David in favour of Victoria Sugden, she tried to drown the latter after the bridge collapse during the Hop’s Survival Week.

Meena was caught red-handed by Andrea Tate – who she already had in her target line as she was dating vicar Charles Anderson, Manpreet’s former fiancé.

Taunting her, Meena eventually chased her down in the maze and a struggled ensued, during which a flare gun was fired.

This led to a the maze catching fire and Meena left Andrea to die in the flames.

Ben Tucker (November, 2021)

When Ben phoned Billy claiming he had footage of a murder attempt at the Hop, Meena panicked and took it upon herself to check on him.

During his meeting with the nurse, Ben came to the realisation she was at the centre of his footage.

Escaping with the footage to his car after a struggle, during which Meena fell on some spilt wine, Ben returns to the Hop to check on her out of guilt.

Little did he know that Meena was waiting for him outside.

Sneaking up on him, Meena beat Ben to death with a wooden oar, taking his bracelet and the incriminating footage.

Other victims include:

  • Liam Cavanagh: the GP was sexually assaulted by Meena while drunk after a Christmas party, in December, 2021. Meena was determined to get pregnant in a bid to stop Billy from rekindling his relationship with Dawn.
  • Manpreet Sharma and Vinny Dingle: Meena held both characters hostage in a barn, and was ready to gas them alive before Liam saved them in January, 2022.
  • Liv Flaherty: the youngster was sent to jail for Ben Tucker’s death.
Lachlan was one of the most terrifying serial killers

Lachlan White (Thomas Atkinson)

Nothing could have possibly prepared Emmerdale viewers and residents for the rampage Lachlan was about to set on as he first befriended Belle Dingle upon his arrival in 2014.

Lachlan also counted Jacob Gallagher among his friends as the latter’s adoptive mother Alicia took a liking to him, believing he was simply different.

But soon, the spoilt little rich kid turned to mischief and committed horrific deeds, growing increasingly unhinged.

The teen won’t be making anymore victims anytime soon as he is still alive but serving time in a maximum state prison.

His victims include members of his own family (but also a bird he killed at the age of four).

Lawrence and Chrissie White (January, 2018)

The former of Home Farm was first (albeit accidentally) shot by his own grandson Lachlan in September, 2015.

Although Lawrence escaped death then, he was unable to reiterate when he staged an intervention with his daughter Chrissie after noticing Lachlan’s behaviour was worrisome.

Both Lawrence and Chrissie made plans to take him to Australia in 2018.

But Lachlan had other plans and deliberately ploughed the family’s car into an oncoming lorry as they were leaving the village.

Lawrence was catapulted through the windshield while Chrissie gave her last breath after being trapped in the vehicle.

Chrissie and Lawrence died on the spot but Rebecca – Lachlan’s aunt – survived and was left with brain damage.

Gerry Roberts (May, 2018)

Perhaps in one of his most brutal gestures, Lachlan killed his own best pal Gerry after he had learned the truth about Chrissie and Lawrence’s deaths.

Gerry came to the terrible realisation he was responsible for the crash after listening to a voicemail accidentally recorded by Lachlan during the crash.

Much lie Meena after him, Lachlan was set on keeping his secret under wraps.

Ensuring Gerry fell through the floor of the unstable B&B, Lachlan finished him off by dropping a large rock onto his head in horrifying scenes.

‘Fake’ Terry aka Paul Tozer (June, 2018)

Months after killing his third victim, Lachlan was horrified when a man named Terry who claimed to be Gerry’s uncle turned up in Emmerdale.

“Terry” had his hands on a comic book written by Gerry which featured pictures proving Lachlan’s guilt in Chrissie and Lawrence’s deaths.

Allowing him to run away, Lachlan was always afraid “Terry” would expose him.

He eventually tracked him down and murdered him off-screen, before being seen burying a body in the woods.

“Terry”, now known under his real name Paul Tozer, was confirmed to have been killed as police found his blood on a rock.

Other victims include:

  • Belle Dingle: after stalking her and making her his girlfriend, Lachlan kidnapped and attempted to murder Belle.
  • Sam Dingle: Lachlan tried to kill Sam after he found him about to bury fake Terry’s body. Going to extremes, Lachlan bludgeoned him heavily but Sam was found bloodied and holding on for dear life by his sister Belle.
  • Rebecca White: another attempted murder victim, Lachlan tried to strangle his aunt to death but she was eventually kept alive as a hostage. She resides in Liverpool.
  • Liv Flaherty: Lachlan discovered Liv was sending him threatening texts and decided to break into her home to tamper with the carbon monoxide detector. During a confrontation, he then slammed her into a wall and knocked her unconscious but she was saved by her brother Aaron in the nick of time.
  • Freddy: the businessman offered Belle a year-long internship. But as he was ready to hit him over the head (as usual) with a rock, Lachlan was stopped in his tracks by a surprise phone call from Belle telling him she loved him and would not be taking the job.
  • Robert Sugden: Lachlan was never fond of his mother’s fiancé and had an ongoing feud with him. He was even willing to lie, claiming that Robert had sexually abused him.
  • Alicia Gallagher: the serial murderer was also a sexual predator as he sexually assaulted Jacob’s adoptive mother and aunt Alicia. He was given two years on the sex offender’s register.
Pierce on trial for Rhona's rape

Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather)

Emmerdale residents – and more particularly Rhona Goskirk – are safe from Pierce as he recently passed away in prison.

Residents couldn’t have imagined Pierce would, one day, become one of Emmerdale’s biggest killers, despite his low body count.

He was first introduced as the scorned husband of Tess Harris.

Tess was having an affair with Paddy Dingle from September, 2015, until her death in February, 2016.

But Pierce only found out his wife had a lover after her passing.

This led him to meet Rhona who knew all about the affair and confessed everything to him.

The pair went on to be romantically involved before eventually tying the knot in April, 2017.

Their marriage was more of a nightmare than a fairy tale as he raped Rhona when she would refuse to be intimate with him.

During his time in Emmerdale, Pierce only killed one character but continues to haunt the memories of those he terrorised.

Graham Foster (January, 2020)

After being turned in to the authorities by Rhona, Pierce was thrown behind bars for her rape.

Pierce was sentenced to five years in prison in 2017 but was released after two and half years as he was up for parole.

He secretly returned to the village, where Rhona had turned a new leaf and found love again with Graham Foster.

Spying on her, and although he was warned by Graham to stay away from Rhona, Pierce was unable to let her move away to France with her new boyfriend.

Knocking Graham out by hitting him over the head, Pierce fought him but the businessman got the upper hand.

Graham decided to spare Pierce’s life, which he soon came to regret as the criminal had no interest in letting him go.

Pierce hit Graham with his car and, seeing that he was still alive, gave him a final fatal blow to the head.

Other victims include:

  • Marlon Dingle: Pierce framed Marlon for Graham’s murder by leaving the weapon, a torch, at his house.
  • Rhona Goskirk: as mentioned above, Pierce raped Rhona during their marriage before being sent to prison a first time.
  • Vanessa Woodfield: Pierce held Vanessa and her son Johnny hostage in a desperate and final bid to get Rhona back after killing Graham.
Emma was another female serial killer

Emma was another female serial killer

Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney)

Although she wasn’t the most blood-thirsty of killers, Emma shares a lot with other murderers of the Dales.

Chillingly, Emma was a nurse just like Meena and her victims include members of her own family, much like Lachlan.

Emma was first introduced to ITV viewers in 2015, when she first arrived in the village.

She had a rocky relationship with her former husband James Barton but after making Chas Dingle believe they are having an affair, Emma manages to convince him to give their relationship another shot.

Unfortunately, this wouldn’t go as planned as James set his sights on Moira Dingle.

Here are Emma’s victims.

James Barton (October, 2016)

When she finds out that James and Moira shared a kiss while eavesdropping into an argument between her husband and her son Ross, Emma descends into madness.

During the rift, James was accidentally knocked down the stairs, badly breaking his right leg.

Emma sees this as an opportunity to make him pay for his infidelity and vows to take care of him.

Instead, she mentally tortures him until she decides to confront him over his kiss with Moira.

The confrontation leads to James knocking Emma unconscious and running away, heading down to a bridge where she catches up with him.

Blinded with rage, Emma pushed James off the bridge and into the Hotten Bypass, where he lands on Ashley Thomas’ car.

James’ fall snowballs into a huge 19-car pile-up, in which Pierce Harris, Paddy Dingle and Robert Sugden sustain minor injuries while Kasim Sabet, Rhona Goskirk and Aaron Dingle are hospitalised.

Once in the hospital with an unconscious James, Emma berated him for betraying her and was on the verge of sabotaging his oxygen tank.

However, she decides to ask for his forgiveness instead.

Sadly, James succumbed to his deteriorated condition in front of his heartbroken family.

Finn Barton (October, 2017)

One year after the dramatic Hotten Bypass crash, Finn is told the truth about his father’s death.

But when he threatens to tell his older brothers Ross and Pete, Finn is locked in the church cupboard by Emma.

Freed by Diane Sugden, he runs to Moira’s farm and wanders in the forest to look for her, unaware his mother is nearby.

Emma walks into a tree and accidentally shoots Finn.

The next day, Finn walks into the road and is picked up by Cain Dingle and Harriet Finch.

He is taken to hospital but eventually suffers a cardiac arrest which leads to his death at the age of 25.

Other victims include:

  • Faith Dingle: following James’ death, Emma desperately tried to keep her family together but was appalled when Faith approached her pretending to be in touch with her husband via fake psychic abilities. Emma ran at her with a brick but she was knocked over by Harriet Finch with her van and survived.
  • Moira Barton (now Dingle): during Emmerdale’s most intense week of drama, in October, 2017, Emma admitted to killing James. The women fought and started a barn fire but, realising she was pregnant, Moira gave birth to a son with Emma’s help. After hearing her son Finn was dead, Emma went to the Hotten Viaduct with the intention of committing suicide. It was revealed that Moira had actually pushed her off. Her own son, Adam, took the blame and has been on the run ever since.

Cameron was behind the Woolpack siege

Cameron Murray (Dominic Power)

One of the most famous serial killers in Emmerdale, Cameron was particularly cruel.

The haulage driver first stepped into the village in March, 2011, after initially embarking on an affair with Debbie Dingle a year before, when she was working in Jersey.

He appeared in Emmerdale in a bid to track Debbie down and build a life with her, telling her he had left his wife and sons for her.

But Debbie shot him down, claiming their affair was nothing short of a mistake.

After settling in, Cameron finds a job at Emmerdale Haulage and Debbie gives in to him.

This leads to Cameron clashing with her father Cain while he had an ongoing feud with Carl King, another Dales antagonist.

The reason being that, while he was in a relationship with Debbie, Cameron embarked on another affair with her aunt Chas.

Cameron’s victims therefore include:

Carl King (October, 2012)

When Carl discovers that Chas and Cameron are having an affair, he begins to blackmail them for the £30,000 Chas stole from him.

On her wedding day to Dan Spencer, Chas plans to run away from Emmerdale but is cornered by Carl in Dan’s camper van.

When he attempts to rape her, Chas hits him over the head and struggles her way out of the van to run to safety in the Woolpack.

Spotting her running and wondering what had happened to scare her off, Cameron finds Carl.

A struggle ensues, during which Carl taunts his rival claiming he could never get into trouble for anything bad he would do.

But just as he claimed he was untouchable, the arrogant villain was hit over the head once more with the same brick Chas used to knock him out.

Cameron ran away and stole his phone, leaving Adam and his then-girlfriend Victoria Sugden to find Carl.

Alex Moss (December, 2012)

While Chas took the blame for Carl’s death, Cameron confided in his best friend Alex and told him he was responsible.

But with Alex being the only one knowing his secret, Cameron was scared he would turn him in to the authorities, although the former promised he would keep his mouth shut.

Cameron kidnapped Alex on Christmas Eve, holding him hostage, but he managed to escape.

However, he wasn’t able to outrun Cameron as he was captured again and beaten to death by the criminal, desperate for his secret to never be exposed.

Alex was buried on Home Farm grounds and his body was unearthed months later, in July, 2013.

Gennie Walker (July, 2013)

Staging a breakdown and leaving the village following Alex’s death, Cameron eventually returned after a month.

He proposed to Chas but grew closer to Debbie once again.

Cameron confessed to Carl’s death and she forgave him.

Unbeknownst to the pair, Gennie listened in, overhearing the entire conversation.

Repeatedly losing concentration out of panic as she took the wheel, Gennie crashed her car in a ravine in the woods.

Debbie remained adamant on helping her and phoned an ambulance while Cameron had other plans.

Cameron pulled a trapped but alive Gennie out of her vehicle and, behind Debbie’s back, suffocated her to death.

Debbie wept in his arms believing they were responsible for her passing.

Cameron was eventually caught and brought to justice for his three murders. But his rampage wasn’t over.

After escaping prison, to Chas and Debbie’s horror, Cameron came back again in October, 2013, and held a number of residents hostage in the Woolpack.

This dramatic event is now known as the Woolpack siege and is part of the iconic pub’s history.

Other victims include:

The following were held captive during the Woolpack siege.

  • Debbie Dingle, whom Cameron later tried to drown before being electrocuted to death.
  • Chas Dingle
  • Zak Dingle
  • Diane Sugden
  • Bernice Blackstock
  • Nicola King
  • Marlon Dingle
  • Priya Sharma
  • David Metcalfe
  • Alicia Gallagher, who was accidentally shot during the siege
  • Ruby Haswell
  • Dan Spencer
  • Jack Sugden
Niven Boyd was cast as serial killer Reg Dawson

Reg Dawson (Niven Boyd)

Although appearing in the long-running ITV soap for just a few days, Reg caused enough drama to be remembered.

The first husband of Viv Hope and father of Scott Windsor, Reg came to the Dales in May, 1994, after his release from prison.

His murderous rampage caused the deaths of:

Shirley Turner (May, 1994)

After causing an explosion at the Post Office, Reg takes Viv and Shirley hostage.

Reg barricaded himself with his accomplices at Home Farm and was set on killing his former wife Viv.

But in a selfless gesture, the Woolpack barmaid stood between Viv and Reg’s gun, taking a bullet for her.

Simmy (May, 1994)

Reg didn’t intend to kill his second victim either as Simmy was one of his henchmen.

Reg shot Simmy after mistaking him for a police officer.

The killed was eventually shot dead by a police marksman.

Other victims include:

  • Viv Hope: as mentioned above, Viv was held hostage by Reg but he caused her further terror even after his death. Reg left her a lump of cash in his will but stated that she could only claim it if she left her husband Vic Windsor. Viv refused. Ironically, she died in 2011, following another explosion at the Post Office.
