A FOUR in a Bed couple have hit back after the ‘harsh slating’ of their ‘terrible’ breakfast on the show.
Carpenter Phil Harris and his partner Maria Parker run The Spinney Homestay, a converted four-bedroom farmhouse in Warwickshire.
The three suites cost up to £110 per night and has stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
While the other hoteliers loved the modern decor of the rooms, the cleanliness and the surroundings.
However, things took a downward turn when it came to the breakfasts, which were a light ‘in-room’ option rather than a cooked meal.
The in-room light breakfast included croissants, as well as extra offerings in the hallway that guests could pay for using the “Honesty Box”.
But Phil explained: “It is an easier option, and to be fair we want the easier option.”
However one of his rivals, Claire, said she felt “robbed” considering the price of the rooms and it was “terrible for the amount they were charging”.
The other contestants agreed and it lead to scores of two and three on the feedback form, as well as the other contestants saying the would not stay at the property again, which did not go down well with Phil.
He said: “I don’t care what their opinions are on breakfast. I was getting a little bit sick and tired of the breakfast scenario.
“You know, they can think what they like, but we make it very clear that we do not do a cooked breakfast.”
After reading some of the comments, Phil said: “This is quite a harsh slating. Two out of ten is quite an insult, but it was to be expected of Claire because she had it in for us from the very beginning of this.
“We know what we have seen and they have just come back for revenge I am sure of it I can take a few on the chin but I think a lot of it is just made up and It is gameplay.”
Four in a Bed airs on Channel 4 and is available on All 4.
