Great British Bake Off creators trademark plans for a MUSICAL – as well as Paul Hollywood dolls and pyjamas

IF the thought of a Paul Hollywood doll whips you into a frenzy or you dream of slipping into a pair of Prue Leith pyjamas, you are in luck.

The creators of the Great British Bake Off have applied for permission to create a line of merchandise based around their spin-off musical.

The stage show is set to air this summer and follow the format of the Channel 4’s hit cookery show, with eight ­amateur bakers vying to impress the judges.

And Love Productions is en­suring it can make a fortune with a host of goods linked to it.

A TV insider said: “The array of products that can now carry the official logo of the musical is utterly mind-boggling.

“This is a chance for the public to interact with the Bake Off phenomenon rather than just watch it at home.

“And that also provides an opportunity for people to buy merchandise, which is obviously something they will want to cash in on.

Money to be made

“More importantly, registering it as their property means others can’t make money out of it.”

The musical comedy will premiere in Cheltenham on July 22 and the list of goods that can be linked to it stretches to everything from lingerie and skateboards to sunglasses and face masks.

There’s clearly a lot of money to be made from the TV phenomenon, which will this year film its 13th series.

Also trademarked recently was the “Hollywood handshake”, Paul’s congratulatory gesture for contestants doing a top bake.

Now we could all get a tiny one when those dolls of Paul come off the production line . . . 

Roxy’s waisted

In ‘toon with the times

I HAVE seen some odd collaborations in my time but when Attitude magazine’s new cover landed in my inbox, my eyes popped out of my head.

The gay mag says it has an “exclusive chat” with The Simpsons’ Waylon Smithers – the loyal assistant of nuclear power plant boss Mr Burns – about his experience with dating apps and LGBT life in Springfield.

Viewers will see Smithers finally find love with dashing fashion mogul Michael De Graaf in an episode on March 6, on Sky Showcase.

These kinds of stunts, where fictional characters break the fourth wall, sometimes feel clumsy.

But if anyone can pull it off, it’s The Simpsons.

Calum’s talking Dorking

THERE was a time when Calum Best was best known for falling out of nightclubs with a woman on his arm.

But that’s all sure to change now he is chairman of Dorking Wanderers FC Ladies.

Squad Goals: Dorking Til I Die will air this year on BBC3 and follows Calum and the team as they prepare for growth at the club and anticipate their new stadium.

Calum – who has featured in several reality TV series including Ex On The Beach, Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity Big Brother – will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his dad, the late George Best, and become a footie legend.

Calum said: “I see this series as an opportunity to show what grassroots women’s football is all about – the challenges, the hard work and the highs and lows of a team and a club looking to create something special.”
