GREAT Celebrity Bake Off fans were left in tears over the ‘tragic’ story of a mum and son’s cancer battles.
The latest episode of the Channel 4 show for Stand Up To Cancer told Cassie and Kye’s stories.

Kye’s father said: “I remember Cassie, she had her hand on his chest and yeah…he went.”
As a picture of Kye in hospital was shown, Cassie’s mother said: “I think they lost everything that day.”
Kye died November 2017 aged nine, but more tragedy was to strike the family as Cassie battled cancer herself.
In a video, Cassie was seen lying in bed and said: “Kye’s anniversary is coming up, two year anniversary, it has been weighing on my mind.
“It made me teary as I’m missing Kye a lot.”
Her mum then told the camera: “Cassie was quite poorly by then, and it was just empty, there was nothing there any more.
“And the whole time this was going on this cancer was still growing.”
Another video by Cassie, shot on her phone was then shown as she tearfully said: “The cancer is everywhere, they did some scans and they found some in my rib, some in my pelvis then I’ve got some in my lung and my liver, everywhere basically.”

Growing more emotional, her mother said: “She just deteriorated and deteriorated and then the oncologist came and said ‘look, we have to stop the treatment, there’s nothing else we can give you.’
“I sat next to her and her breathing just slowed, and slowed, and slowed.
“I wanted to shake her and say wake up, come back. I’d do anything just to have her back again.”
Cassie died in March 2020, two years after her son, and the heartbreaking story left viewers at home in floods of tears.
One wrote on Twitter: “This story on #bakeoff – that poor family. Completely heartbroken for them. RIP Kye and Cassie.”
Another added: “That was hard to watch. I can’t even begin to comprehend what Cassie and Kye’s family and friends have been through. We need to find a cure. We need to stop families being ripped apart. God bless you Cassie and Kye.”
A third tweeted: “I’m not ashamed to admit that I cried all the way through that. Just devastating. My heart goes out to that poor family. Rest in peace Cassie & Kye.”
