In August 2008, Martin became the father to twin boys Matteo and Valentino, 13, through a gestational surrogate.

In an interview with Out, Martin expressed his love for kids and desire to grow his family – being that his grandmother had 14 children.
“I would love to have many grandkids in the future and have every Sunday filled with family but, you know, we have to see what happens,” the Latin singer told the outlet.
“There’s moments where I want 10 more, and then there are those mornings where everybody’s crying and I’m like, ‘OK, maybe we’re fine at six.’”
“Many years I dreamt of being a father, and many, many, many times I went through this grieving process of I am gay, I am a closeted gay man, and I’m not going to be able to be a daddy,” he continued.
“Obviously adoption is an option and it’s very beautiful, but unfortunately for gay men it’s very difficult to adopt in some countries,” which is why he turned to surrogacy.

Enrique Martín Morales, more famously known as Ricky Martin, was born on December 24, 1971, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He began his music career at age 12 with the pop group, Menudo, however, Martin went solo in 1991, releasing a total of 10 solo Latin pop albums.
The release of his song Livin’ La Vida Loca brought Latin music to the forefront and is largely credited for the 1999 Latin pop explosion that transitioned Spanish music to mainstream media.
The 50-year-old has two Grammys and was even nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his acting in soap operas.
Martin publicly came out as gay in a post on his website in March 2010.
Martin married Jwan Yosef, a Swedish-Syrian conceptual artist in a private ceremony in 2017.

On July 2, 2022, Ricky Martin was accused of alleged domestic violence in Puerto Rico.
A judge issued a restraining order against the singer and law enforcement officials confirmed to Telemundo that the protection order fell under the LAW 54 statute, keeping the identity of the victim anonymous.
However, earlier this week, Spanish media outlet Marca reported that Eric Martin, the singer’s brother, revealed the petitioner is Ricky’s nephew.
Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer, told PEOPLE in a statement:
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” said Singer.

“The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
