JENNY Ryan is one of the beloved Chasers on the ITV quiz show, but she has had a long history on some of the country’s biggest shows.
She is best known for her role as The Vixen on ITV’s The Chase and Beat The Chasers and even wowed with her vocal ability on Celebrity X Factor.
The redhead from Bolton got her start on University Challenge in a bid to help the University of Leeds reach the semi-finals in 2003.
She then went on to write questions for The Weakest Link and Fifteen to One.
Jenny appeared as a contestant on Mastermind in 2006 where her subject of choice was Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Her big break, however, came in 2009, after being approached to write questions for the pilot episode of The Chase.
She didn’t join the show until 2015, when she made her debut appearance on September 2 – and it was all thanks to fellow chaser Anne Hegerty, who recommended producers to hire her to be on the show.
The Chase host Bradley Walsh gave Jenny her well-known nickname.
She told Lorraine earlier this year: “I had my hair in a big ponytail and the producers were trying to work out what my nickname should be. They wanted something animal-related because I like animal print.
Jenny is better known as The Vixen, which is in reference to her red hair and the former ponytail she sported; and apparently producers like the name since “vixens are notoriously clever and cunning.”
Others have also referred to the 40-year-old as The Bolton Brainiac, given that she has proven to contestants that she’s not easy to beat.
Jenny also starred on the 14th series of Celebrity Masterchef.

She has also featured on Only Connect, The Weakest Link and Fifteen to One.
Most recently she appeared on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, competing against pal and comedian Lucy Porter – managing to win the day, but only by racking up a smaller loss.
Jenny had £400 to spend and wound up clinching victory by ending up with £385 to Lucy’s meagre £200.
