RIDLEY is a new ITV drama which follows a retired detective who returns to his old precinct to consult on an unsolved cold case.

Starring Line of Duty actor Adrian Dunbar, find out here if the series is based on a true story.

Is Ridley a true story?

Ridley is not based on a true story.

But it is loosely inspired by a real-life phenomenon of retired detectives returning to police work as consultants.

The official ITV synopsis explains that “when a local farmer is found dead, Ridley is called on by his ex-colleague and newly promoted DI Carol Farman to assist on a missing persons case that remains unsolved after 13 years.

“Ridley always suspected the investigation was flawed, and that the wrong man was tried for Hannah’s Lindsay’s abduction. As they delve deeper, they uncover another body, and a shocking secret.”
