LOVE Island star Tasha Ghouri has revealed how tough life in the villa was for her as a deaf person.
The 24-year-old was born deaf into a hearing family and had a cochlear implant – a small electronic device in her right ear – fitted at the age of five, which allowed her to hear for the first time.
But despite the aide, Tasha has a daily battle to be able to hear and has revealed for the first time what it was really like for her on the famous show, which saw her fall in love with Andrew Le Page.
In a new YouTube video, Tasha revealed: “Being in the villa, in such an intense environment, I struggled in conversations or when people said I’ve got a text, and read out the text, I would be like ‘oh what did the text say?’ I miss out quite a lot so it wasn’t easy in the villa.”
Explaining why she struggled, the star said: “I am constantly having to lip read, even though I have my cochlear implant. Everyday, constantly, especially being in a social environment.

“I suffer from bad migraines because my brain is so overworking and because of the magnet and the coil it is quite painful quite a lot because they’re such strong magnets. They are really strong and can really pulsate and give me really bad headaches.”
Not surprisingly, Tasha found it hard at times on the show as she kept up with the constant chatter – and her emotions were felt full force.
She continued: “Sometimes in the villa I was honestly exhausted, even after a challenge.

“I do wear my heart on my sleeve, I am an emotional person anyway but there were days you know when I had a really bad headache, I was tired, I just wanted to go to sleep and my emotions would really overtake me.
“So being in the villa was also hard with that in that scenario. I am not sitting here looking for sympathy, I’m just explaining how it is growing up with cochlear implant.”
