A PSYCHIC pig correctly predicted Boris Johnson would resign as Prime Minister on today’s Lorraine.

Minutes before it was confirmed the PM would be stepping down from his post, Mystic Marcus, who was in a pen on a farm, shuffled his way to a board reading “go” as opposed to one reading “stay” in the opposite corner.

Who could replace Boris Johnson after PM resigns?

And then at 12.30pm Boris finally appeared behind a lectern outside Number 10 as wife Carrie and government ministers watched on.

He said he will remain in charge of the Tory Party until his successor is appointed, which might not be until October.

Attorney General Suella Braverman is the first MP to officially announce a leadership bid.

Big Conservative hitters like Rishi SunakNadhim ZahawiLiz TrussSajid Javid and Jeremy Hunt are all expected to put themselves forward too.

During his resignation speech, Boris said he sought to stay Prime Minister because he felt it was his “obligation” to continue to do what the Tories promised in 2019.

He said: “I want to say to the millions of people who voted for us in 2019, many of them voting Conservative for the first time, thank you for that incredible mandate, the biggest Conservative majority since 1987, the biggest share of the vote since 1979.

“And the reason I have fought so hard in the last few days to continue to deliver that mandate in person was not just because I wanted to do so, but because I felt it was my job, my duty, my obligation to you to continue to do what we promised in 2019. And of course, I’m immensely proud of the achievements of this Government.”

Boris has been busy filling Cabinet positions after a mass exodus in recent days.

Downing Street appointed Greg Clark as the new Levelling Up Secretary, replacing Michael Gove who was sacked by Boris on Wednesday, while James Cleverly has been made Education Secretary.

Robert Buckland has been appointed Secretary of State for Wales, following the resignation of Simon Hart.
