Louis Partridge is a convincing Sid Vicious in a new trailer for The Sex Pistols biopic Pistol as he stars alongside Emma Appleton as the late Nancy Spungen in the eagerly awaited Danny Boyle series.
Recreated in the clip is the boredom of England’s disenfranchised youth at the time, with the clip opening with the words: ‘England’s terribly boring, nothing ever changes,’ as the cheerful 1976 hit Save Your Kisses For Me by Brotherhood of Man plays.
The characters of the six-part drama – set for released on Disney+ and on digital channel FX this month – are seen causing havoc in the clip, jumping on rusting cars on baron and abandoned industrial estates in inner city London.

Anson Boon, 22, who plays the band’s frontman John Lydon in the show, says: ‘We’re invisible, we’re p**sed off, we’re bored.
‘So maybe that should be our image!’
The chaotic band are then seen on the streets of Central London, raucously larking about outside Buckingham Palace, as journalist Bill Grundy says: ‘Punk has taken London’s youth by storm,’ a reference to an expletive-ridden televised interview on the Today show in 1976 which made front page news due to the live potty-mouthed conversation.

Maisie Williams, 25, who plays the iconic Jordan, is heard stating: ‘People’s minds are too imprisoned.
‘We want to destroy that so the future can emerge.’
Thomas Brodie-Sangster, 31, is the double of the band’s manager Malcolm McLaren, with the character saying: ‘My vision for The Sex Pistols is one of dirt, danger and desire. Whether you can play is not a criteria, it’s whether you’ve got something to say,’ before front man Johnny says: ‘Come see us play, we’re awful.’

Pistol, set for release this month, is based on the legendary rock band – consisting of Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, Paul Cook and Sid Vicious – and their rise to fame in the 1970s.
In March last year, the star-studded line-up for the drama was revealed, with Iris Law announced to be following in her father Jude and brother Rafferty’s acting footsteps.

The model, 21, is making her screen debut as Soo Catwoman, one of the icons of the punk scene who became a rising star in the 1970s, and she joins Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Talulah Riley, and Christian Lees as new cast members in Pistol.
A first look image for the TV series, which is based on the memoir of Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, was also revealed following the casting announcement.
Soo Lucas, who dubbed herself Soo Catwoman, is known for her trademark haircut which she created in 1976 to look like she had cat ears.

The hairdo is set to be a very different look for Iris, who usually sports long brunette curls, though she may well wear a wig to emulate Soo’s iconic hairstyle.
Thomas is set to take on the role of Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, while Talulah will play fashion icon Vivienne Westwood, and Christian will portray the band’s first bass guitarist Glen Matlock.
The six-episode series began principal photography in March, and Danny serves as director and Executive Producer.

Anchored by Steve Jones’ memoir, which offers a fascinating new perspective on one of rock’s greatest ever stories, Pistol moves from West London’s council estates, to Westwood and McLaren’s notorious Kings Road SEX shop, to the international controversy that came with the release of Never Mind the B******s.
Their single God Save the Queen was banned by the BBC and reached Number 1 on the UK’s NME chart, but appeared at Number 2 on the Official UK Singles chart, leading to accusations that the song was purposely kept off the top spot.

Danny has had an acclaimed TV and movie career. His 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won eight, including the Academy Award for Best Director.
In 2012, he was the artistic director for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was subsequently offered a knighthood as part of the New Year Honours but declined.
In January last year, Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment, said in a statement: ‘It’s great to be back in business with Danny Boyle, an exceptional artist responsible for so many great feature films and TV series.’
