MASTERMIND viewers were left fuming after a contestant was ‘robbed’ of a win – despite answering EVERY question correctly.
Monday night saw the first semi-final of the BBC competition and four contestants vying for a place in the final.
Two contestants, Lucy and Ian, got off to a flying start by answering all of their questions correctly during their specialist round.
While Lucy had time to answer 14 questions, host Clive Myrie managed to get a fifteenth one in for Ian.
In the general knowledge round, Lucy answered 11 right to get a final score of 25.
It was then down to Ian to try and surpass that, which he did by also answering 11 right, taking his final score to an impressive 26.
But as Ian made it through to the final, many viewers were angered that Lucy missed out on a spot despite doing just as well as well as her competitor.
Taking to Twitter, one Mastermind viewer complained: “So, @BBC
#Mastermind- how come one contestant gets a full specialist round score of 14, and another a full specialist round score of 15.
“Then the latter wins, with one point more. Why don’t the specialist rounds have identical numbers of questions???”
Another added: “Poor show when the winner and runner up answered all their specialist round questions without passes yet Ian scored one more than Lucy. He finally won by that one point. Seems unfair.”
A third tweeted: “Lucy was robbed. She should have won #Mastermind.”
Meanwhile another shared: “#mastermind @bbc Tonight’s Semi was not a fair show. Lucy got all her answers right in 1st round with no passes and got 14 points.
“Ian did the same and got 15 and then eventually won by 1 point from Lucy. Thus only won due to more questions being asked. Not right.”
Mastermind airs Mondays at 8pm on BBC Two.
