Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman had a blunt message for Russian President Vladimir Putin while hosting the Independent Spirit Awards Sunday, saying ‘F*** off and go home Putin.’

The married couple, hosting the awards at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California, referred to the ongoing Russian invasion of the Ukraine as they spoke to the crowd and appeared to flip the bird at Putin while onstage.

Offerman, 51, said they wanted to send their ‘best wishes to those affected by the war in Ukraine and all unjust conflicts around the world.’

Mullally, 63, added, ‘I think we speak for everyone here when we say we are hoping for a quick and peaceful resolution – specifically, f*** off and go home Putin,’ which garnered a spirited reaction from the crowd.

‘That is the quick and peaceful resolution we’re talking about,’ Offerman said. ‘We hope Putin f***s off and goes home and to that end let’s all join together with a Spirit Awards salute to Putin.’

At that point, he and Mullally flashed middle fingers in condemnation of the Russian leader, as actress Kristen Stewart was among those to join in the display.

The couple encouraged people to donate to help the people who have left the Ukraine in the wake of the invasion. Mullally said, ‘There are a lot of great organizations raising money for Ukrainian refugees, so please give what you can to help the victims of this senseless act of aggression.’

The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which commenced February 24, has prompted a number of entertainment industry giants to make sweeping changes in response.

Netflix has suspended its streaming service there, while studios such as Disney, Sony and Warner Bros. will not be releasing films in the Russian market.

TikTok has also imposed a block on Russian users on the platform posting new content in response to Putin’s newly-implemented law against circulating ‘false information’ about the country’s military forces. Those who break the law are subject to 15-year prison sentences, fines and forced labor.

‘In light of Russia’s new “fake news” law, we have no choice but to suspend livestreaming and new content to our video service while we review the safety implications of this law,’ the company said Sunday in a statement. ‘Our in-app messaging service will not be affected.’
