The Russian invasion of Ukraine, which commenced February 24, has prompted a number of entertainment industry giants to make sweeping changes in response.
Netflix has suspended its streaming service there, while studios such as Disney, Sony and Warner Bros. will not be releasing films in the Russian market.
TikTok has also imposed a block on Russian users on the platform posting new content in response to Putin’s newly-implemented law against circulating ‘false information’ about the country’s military forces. Those who break the law are subject to 15-year prison sentences, fines and forced labor.
