Hold back your tears – as the iconic show, which has blessed our screens for 37 years, is coming to an end tonight.

The finale will see the return of former cast members Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Natalie Imbruglia and Margot Robbie, after they agreed to one final Ramsay Street outing.

News of the show’s shocking axe first came in March and the last ever episode was filmed earlier this year – despite a fan petition to save the beloved series.

With that said, The Sun takes a look at the five famous faces who were snubbed for the final instalment.

Kimberley Davies (Annalise Hartman)

Channel 5

Kimberley Davies shot to fame after playing Annalise Hartman on Neighbours[/caption]

Kimberley Davies was arguably one of the biggest Aussie sex symbols of the 1990s.

She shot to fame in 1993 playing Annalise Hartman on Neighbours and quickly became a household name down under and the UK.

The blonde bombshell, now 49, became a staple in men’s magazines, gracing the cover of FHM, Maxim, Loaded and many more.

Kimberley left Neighbours in 1996 and went to Hollywood, where she was cast in Aaron Spelling’s short-lived night-time soap Pacific Palisades.

The show was cancelled after one season, but the Aussie star landed small roles on hit shows like Ally McBeal, Friends and Spin City.

She later appeared on a number of reality shows, including Celebrity Circus, Dancing with the Stars, and the UK version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Tom Oliver (Lou Carpenter)

We’re going to be quite frank here, we just can’t imagine a final episode without Tom Oliver, who played Lou Carpenter.

It’s safe to say life was never simply for Lou in Ramsay Street.

Over the years, viewers watched his friendship develop with Harold Bishop, played by Ian Smith, who was his “nemesis” and rival for Madge Ramsay’s affections.

Despite the rivalry, Lou raised money to get Harold out of jail, Lou received a kidney from his friend and the pair went into business together.

Other notable storylines include a painkiller addiction, a horrifying attack by a masked intruder and going on the run from drug dealers in Cambodia.

Craig McLachlan (Henry Ramsay)

Craig McLachlan was said to be ‘devastated’ after being left out[/caption]

Craig McLachlan has reprised his Neighbours role in an Instagram video after being snubbed for the finale of the Australian soap.

The actor played Henry Ramsay – the brother of Kylie Minogue’s character Charlene – from 1987 to 1989 but was not one of the many old cast members brought back.

Earlier this week a spokesperson said it was “devastating” for the star when he wasn’t invited to return.

Craig, however, found a way to pay tribute to the show by slipping into Henry’s overalls and donning a long wig for his own farewell video on Instagram.

Speaking as himself, McLachlan said: “Do you know, I got the call to join the show way back in 1986 – an exciting call that changed my life.

“A call that I’ll be forever grateful for. Good memories, good people, and I loved each and every day.”

Liam Hemsworth (Jamie Kane)

Chris Hemsworth swapped Neighbours for the heights of Hollywood

Many will recognise Australian actor Chris Hemsworth as Marvel superhero Thor or from the Netflix action movie Extraction.

But before he landed an impressive career in Hollywood, the 38-year-old star first cut his acting teeth on a popular Aussie soap opera – just like actress Margot Robbie did.

Chris appeared on Neighbours – in a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ cameo.

The year was 2002, and an 18-year-old Chris appeared in a single episode of Neighbours as a one-off character called Jamie Kane.

In 2004, Chris appeared in rival soap Home & Away, but happily this time as a regular fixture.

Beyond then, it seems the allure of Hollywood called out, as he went on to appear as George Kirk in Star Trek before starring as Thor.

Alan Dale (Jim Robinson)

Alan Dale joined the cast of Neighbours in late 1984 and filming begun in January 1985.

He was a major actor in the show as he played a major role as the sometimes fiery patriarch Jim Robinson.

However, in a row over pay in around late 1992, Alan decided to leave the show.

He filmed his final scenes in early 1993 in which Jim suffered a heart attack and died.

After leaving the show, Alan Dale slammed the Neighbours makers, saying they saw the cast as just numbers and easily replaceable.

Since moving to America, he has starred in hit American shows such as NCIS, Lost, Ugly Betty and 24.
