A POP star looked unrecognisable as he showcased a new look at the TV BAFTAs.

The annual ceremony took place at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday afternoon, with the stars out in force in the sunshine.

The celebs brought plenty of glamour to proceedings, but some onlookers had to do a double take when they saw the hugely popular singer and actor hit the red carpet.

Years & Years star Olly Alexander usually sports a colourful head of hair alongside his statement fashion style, but for the BAFTAs he switched up his look completely.

Olly, 31, has shaved off his hair almost completely, except for four closely cropped strips on the top in a distinct style.

As well as his new haircut, Olly has also bleached his eyebrows, which totally transformed his look and made him hard to recognise.

The star – who attended the BAFTAs alongside his It’s A Sin costars – wore an all-black ensemble consisting of a statement black shirt with a train, tight black trousers and incredible high heeled boots.

Olly was nominated in the Leading Actor category for his role in It’s A Sin, but unfortunately missed out on the gong to Sean Bean for his role in Time.

It wasn’t the only disappointment of the night for the hit Channel 4 show, as it went home empty-handed after failing to win any of its seven nominations.

The series, written and created by Queer As Folk and Doctor Who screenwriter Russell T Davies, follows a group of gay men and their friends as they navigate the UK’s HIV/Aids crisis throughout the 80s and early 90s.

It left viewers at home absolutely furious, with one writing on Twitter: “Wtf? It’s a Sin overlooked again – what is actually going on?  #BAFTAS.”

A second added: “It’s A Sin being robbed tonight & Time did deserve a BAFTA but so does that drama too #BAFTAS.”

While a third wrote: “I loved ‘Time’ but ‘It’s a sin’ not winning a bafta is criminal! The only show that made you cry and laugh at the same time – the most incredible writing and acting #robbed #BAFTAS.”
