Alongside the clip, she penned: ‘To my fellow breach mumma’s… I had my ECV procedure a couple of days ago and it worked!

‘Baby is now head down and I am so relieved! There is a small chance they can turn back before you go into labour but I’m going to stay positive and hope for the best!

‘I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it isn’t the most pleasant experience but if you breath deep through it and try to zone out, it is over before you know it, I think in total it was around 3/4 minutes.’

Easing the minds of other expectant mothers, she added: ‘You and baby need to be monitored before and after to make sure all is ok, so in total I was there a couple of hours.

‘Also had a blood test booked the same day so I left feeling well and truely poked and prodded lol but totally worth it.

‘That evening and since my stomach has felt quite sore, almost like punched but it is totally bearable.

‘So for anyone in the same position, hope you sees this and it helps to ease your anxieties, I felt pretty anxious in the lead up to it and I’m the biggest baby so if I can do it, you can do it!! Now just need to sit and wait for when they feel ready to make an arrival.’

She said: ‘It’s still so surreal that she’s finally here after all these months, I just can’t stop staring at her beautiful little face.

‘The birth was tough of course but she is worth every bit of pain, tears, sickness and exhaustion.

‘I now feel at my most content, I may have painful sore parts of my body and a belly that still looks five months pregnant but I don’t even care, all I care about is being the best possible mum I can be and to soak in every minute of every day with her.’

How do midwives turn a breech or transverse baby?

A baby usually moves into a head-first position (facing downwards) by 36 weeks gestation.

However if they are bottom first or feet first (breech position) or lying sideways (transverse position) they need to be moved after the 37th week of the pregnancy to avoid complications during birth.

The obstetrician may offer ECV, a technique known as External Cephalic Version.

The procedure usually begins with an injection to relax the womb, before gentle pressure is applied to the abdomen to help the baby turn in the womb until he or she is facing down head-first.

The doctor or midwife will place their hands on the stomach and encourage the baby to turn in a forward or backward roll, with the aim of finishing in a head down position.

The technique, described as ‘mildly uncomfortable’, is successful in forty per cent of first-time mothers, and described as ‘generally safe’.

However one in 200 babies need to be delivered by emergency caesarean section as a result of complications.

If moving the baby is not successful, doctors will discuss a breech vaginal birth or a cesarean.
