STARSTRUCK judge Sheridan Smith fought back the tears as three contestants paid tribute to her famous friend during tonight’s show.
The ITV show saw four more teams transform into their singing idol with a hope of getting into the final.
Tonight saw Patsy, Ebony, and Emily perform in front of judges Sheridan, Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Sheridan.
The trio sung her 2006 hit Rehab.
When they finished Sheridan got very emotional.
As the actress wiped the tears from her eyes, she said: “Girls you’re amazing.
“I did know Amy and she was so much more than the beehive and the tattoos, she was beautiful soul.
“A very misunderstood soul, but with the most incredible talent.
“I think you all really got that tonight.
“Patsy you’ve got the sass, Emily you’re such a sweet girl and actually, so was Amy behind all the kind of madness, and Ebony, Sheffield girl, don’t stop singing because your voice was bang on.
“I think you girls did Amy proud so thank you.”
Amy sadly passed away aged 27.
The singer was found dead at her flat in Camden, North London, on Saturday, July 23, 2011.
Amy and Sheridan became good friends after meeting in the queue of music venue Proud Galleries in London back in 2009.
