A GRAND Designs hunting lodge conversion that was dubbed “heaven” by property expert Kevin McCloud is now on Airbnb.
Kemeys Folly in Wales featured on the much-loved Channel 4 show in 2009 as a family attempted to turn it into a stunning countryside home.
Kevin, 62, was left mesmerised by the stunning Newport location, with a panoramic view of the Usk Valley and Monmouthshire beyond.
The stone structure, which was originally built in 1722 as a hunting lodge, and was rebuilt in 1912 as a memorial following a severe fire.
The building reached Grade II listed status in 1995 as a “picturesque folly” before being transformed into a family home on Grand Designs.
A contemporary extension was first added to the building, as well as a renovation and restoration of the period features inside.
When Kevin got to tour the finished folly, he couldn’t stop gushing about it’s “heavenly” appearance to viewers at home.
“There is no doubt this is all very glamorous and lavish,” he said. “This brilliant ground floor extension is like a viewing platform.”
Inside the home, the kitchen had been transformed with bespoke wood and marble counters, alongside a hand-made dining table.
Elsewhere in the property, a snug TV room kept the original windows and ceiling work to tie in some old charm from the folly.
“Look at this, it’s like a private club here,” Kevin added. “The combination of historic room, views and movies is heaven for me. Heavenly.”
Now, the building is listed on Airbnb to allow Grand Designs fans to go and stay in the stunning two-story building.
Guests can enjoy the “poetic building” that welcomes up to six guests across three spacious bedrooms, each with an en-suite.
The folly is listed as having a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, with plenty of outside space and a patio to enjoy the views.
Downstairs is Kevin’s favourite TV snug room, with Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime loaded on the telly for cosy nights in.
The Airbnb comes with welcome toiletries and towels, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen for guests to enjoy using.
The folly is available for a minimum of two nights at a time, with a starting price of £500 for up to six guests.
