A new trailer for the highly anticipated new Top Gun movie starring Tom Cruise was shared on Tuesday.
The clip shows the formerly hot-headed pilot Pete Mitchell, who goes by Maverick, more mature as he becomes a flight instructor at the Naval Academy.
The star looks youthful as he rides his motorcycle and flies his plane upside down over snowy mountains, proving time has not slowed down Cruise.
Also in the action-packing trailer is a look at Top Gun vet Val Kilmer in a framed photo as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky. He is the person who has recommended Maverick return to the Academy as a teacher.

Soon here: Top Gun: Maverick arrives in theaters on May 27
The clip opens with a plane flying low over a desert landscape at top speed.
At a bar in walks Teller as Goose’s son, who appears to be cocky and ready for adventure.
When a pilot played by Monica Barbaro – who looks like a cross between Kylie Jenner and Lucy Hale – says that the room is filled with the best of the best pilots already so who could possibly train them, the Top Gun theme music pipes up, hinting Maverick is on his way.
Then Maverick is seen taking the sheet off his old motorcycle, looking ready for a ride.
Maverick is summoned back to Naval Fighter Weapons School by superiors keen to exploit his experience as a United States Naval Aviator.
While his unpredictability is undisputed, naval tutor Mitchell’s undoubted brilliance in the air is recognized.
Stunned: In an earlier clip, Mitchell can’t conceal his astonishment during a briefing with his seniors, among them three-star Vice Admiral Jon Hamm
It’s been a while: His commanders are keen to exploit is experience as a United States Naval Aviator
Despite his grand introduction and the evident weight of expectation that surrounds his arrival, Mitchell can’t conceal his astonishment during a briefing with his seniors, among them three-star Vice Admiral Jon Hamm.
Hamm’s character lets Maverick know he was not keen on having him return as his reputation is spotty.
And then Cruise’s pilot says that he does not promise to be a perfect teacher.
Grand introduction: Mitchell’s undoubted brilliance in the air is recognized in an opening monologue, delivered to a group of young, ambitious trainees during a class seminar
Here we go: But he wastes no time in displaying his reckless streak by throwing caution to the wind during a complex exercise with his trainees
Watch out: Taking to the skies for a ‘two versus one’ dogfight, his overconfident pupils are left stunned as he skillfully navigates his jet between between them, narrowly missing their wings
Taking to the skies for a ‘two versus one’ dogfight, his overconfident pupils are left stunned as he skillfully navigates his jet between between them, narrowly missing their wings.
The pilots are then told they are going on a mission that is more dangerous than any living pilot has ever seen as a plane is filmed going down in flames over a snowy mountainside.
Connelly’s beauty warns Maverick that if he losses a pilot, it will be too hard for him to handle. But he has a job to do.
That special one: With McGillis’s Charlotte “Charlie” Blackwood is curiously absent in 2019, her spot is capably filled by a new and notably younger love interest, played by Jennifer Connelly
Drama: There’s an angry scuffle among trainees as the trailer draws to a close
A nod to the past: Fans will be treated to another high-fiving beach volleyball scene that’s almost a double for the original film’s most iconic sequence
Fans of the original film will be treated to more than one nod to the past, with Mitchell seen tearing through barren countryside on the beloved GPZ900R motorcycle he rode to great affect as a younger man.
In a previous trailer there is another high-fiving beach volleyball scene.
It is almost a double for the original film’s most iconic sequence, with shirtless pilots showing off their muscles – and their ball control.
Dogfight: The closing scene suggests Mitchell and his trainees will see real action
