VANDERPUMP Rules star Katie Maloney has opened up about her move to divorce her husband Tom Schwartz, calling it “the most painful decision ever”.
She gave fans the low-down on the reality couple’s break up after they announced earlier this week that they are going their separate ways.

Speaking alone on her podcast, You’re Gonna Love Me with Katie Maloney, the Bravolebrity burst into tears as she told listeners: “It was my decision, which was probably the hardest and most painful decision I’ve ever had to make.”
Katie added: “I love Tom, and we’ve built a life together, and he was my person, but ultimately, I just wasn’t happy.”
She decided to leave the TomTom co-founder after twelve years together.
The decision was no sudden move for Katie, who has shared many of her ups and downs with Tom for the Vanderpump Rules viewers.
“For a long time I sat with it and I thought about it and I didn’t talk to anyone about it for a long time, cause I wanted to know if it was something else that was making me feel this way… but it just didn’t stop. It just became more clear, and I could no longer deny it. That was the hardest thing to accept.”
She sobbed as she continued: “I had really prioritized Tom, and our relationship, and our future, and I wanted to plan for that so badly, but I didn’t often prioritize myself or my happiness.
“Even though we did have so much fun, there were so many happy moments even day-to-day, I loved being with him, but ultimately I was not fulfilled.”
The now exes are “trying to navigate these steps together” and remain friends.

Discussing the build-up to their split, she said: “I felt like I was going to burst. For months it was building up. I felt disconnected, I felt like I was drifting further and further away and I couldn’t stop it. It was the hardest, hardest thing to do. And the hardest thing to tell him, because I knew it was gonna crush him.”
She told her listeners: “I feel very strongly that I’m doing the right thing, but it doesn’t make it easy.”

Katie and Tom announced their split via separate Instagram posts on Tuesday, after The Sun exclusively revealed that their relationship was on the rocks.
Katie told her followers: “After 12 years on an adventure through life together, Tom and I are ending our marriage.”
She added: “This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose.
“We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship.”
In his post, Tom wrote: “Well, this sucks, how am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f**kin’ Instagram caption?
“I’m not ready to use the ‘D’ word because it’s too painful. Yes, my heart aches.”
Yesterday, Katie was spotted without her wedding ring for her first outing since the announcement.
Meanwhile, Tom was photographed still wearing his as he walked their dogs, Gordo and Butter, in Los Angeles.
