Watch What Happens Live: Luann de Lesseps says apology for relapse incident was ‘right thing’ to do

Luann de Lesseps said she apologized and took responsibility after a recent public relapse incident because it was the right thing to do.

The 56-year-old reality star addressed her recent relapse on Tuesday during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo. 

‘I had a pretty good track record but people slip and like I said I’m only human and it happened,’ said Luann. ‘That’s part of being responsible and moving on, picking yourself back up and doing the right thing. I apologized because it’s important. You have to own your behavior. And you know, I had a party that night, for sure.’

Andy started the show by saying that Luann was in the headlines over the weekend and wanted to know if there was anything else she wanted to say about it besides her apology statement on Instagram to the staff of The Townhouse of New York about her drunken behavior last Thursday at their establishment. 

‘I just want to say that people make mistakes,’ said Luann. ‘I’m only human and it’s progress not perfection.’

Andy then noted how she didn’t drink either on Girls Trip or on the last season of The Real Housewives of New York City and that she was drinking her non-alcoholic Fosé Rosé while visiting the Bravo clubhouse.

He also said the incident happened at a ‘hustler bar’ dressed up as a cabaret.

‘I didn’t know, ‘ said Luann. ‘Nobody told me. Everyone had their phones out, it was pretty scary.’

Andy then asked Luann his lingering questions from ‘The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.’ He asked her how it felt to have the other women point out how awful Ramona Singer, 65, was to her.

‘Well, it was interesting to watch their reaction to her because I’m so used to Ramona so it kind of goes over my head,’ said Luann. ‘To see their reaction was like ”I need some popcorn right now, this is great”.’

Andy then asked her, ‘Which of the women did you love more than you expected to and who left you a little disappointed?’  

‘I got to say Kyle [Richards], I didn’t know her very well at all and I thought she was going to be a little more stuck up and she was so down to earth and so much fun. We laughed a lot and so I really was surprised by her. Also Kenya [Moore]. Everybody was like Kenya throws a lot of shade and I thought she was just great and so easy to get along with,’ Luann answered.

Andy asked her who from the trip was the last one she texted and Luann said probably Melissa Gorga and then said maybe Teresa Giudice, too. She said she was on the phone with both of them because she was doing Melissa’s podcast.

Luann was asked if she had to pick one of the Girls Trip cast to join RHONY who it would be.

‘I plead the Fifth,’ said Luann.

Andy asked her if she attempted on the show to hook up with the house boy Michael.

‘No, because I found out he was married,’ said Luann. ‘I didn’t know he was married but I had fun flirting with him.’

One viewer asked Luann what past New York housewives she wanted to see back on the show.

‘I’d like to see Kelly [Bensimon] come back,’ said Luann as Andy said she was a real estate agent in New York.

‘And of course Jill [Zarin] ‘ said Luann.

‘You are all still in touch,’ said Andy.

‘We are all still in touch,’ said Luann. ‘That’s important.’

Two viewers from Canada asked Luann what her thoughts were on her ex-Tom D’Agostino proposing to his fiancé on her wedding anniversary and if she congratulated him.

Luann said she had not. She said the date was also his birthday.

‘But still any other day would have been good,’ said Luann. ‘Not cool. Very like uncool.’

One viewer wanted to know what was going on with Luann’s dating life.

‘I am not seeing anybody right now,’ said Luann. ‘There is nobody that I want to introduce to my children, let’s put it that way. So I’m single. I’m just so busy with my cabaret shows and that’s really the love of my life right now.’

Another viewer asked her how she felt about Sonja Morgan, 58, embarking on her own cabaret show.

‘I think it’s great,’ said Luann. ‘There is room for everybody. Sonja is hysterical. I only wish her the best.’

Andy asked her if she skipped out on a $700 bill in Washington,  DC. but she said it was actually a mistake and that she paid her bill.

Margaret Josephs, 54, who was also on this show, was told by Andy that he really liked seeing her make up with Jennifer Aydin.

‘I really made up with her genuinely,’ said Margaret, who was wearing a low cut black long sleeve dress. ‘I was heartbroken when she was crying. I feel bad for her. I mean, is it going to last, I’m not so sure.’

Andy then polled the audience about whether they agreed that Teresa Giudice’s idea of friendship was a dictatorship. Luann said she got to see a different side to Teresa on Girls Trip.

‘We were friends,’ said Luann.

Andy then asked Margaret a series of questions about Teresa. He first asked her if she thought Teresa still hadn’t seen the ‘Louie video’ about her boyfriend Luis ‘Louie’ Ruelas, 47.

‘She saw the video,’ said Margaret. ‘I mean, come on.’

Andy asked her if she thought Teresa should have intervened when Jennifer called her brother Joe Gorga ‘a little b**** boy.’

‘She should have intervened,’ said Margaret.

Andy asked if she questioned Teresa’s love for Louie’s giant scroll that he presented her with on their one-year anniversary.

‘Who would want that hanging in their house?’ said Margaret.

Andy then asked her about Teresa getting a prenup with Louie.

‘She needs a prenup,’ said Margaret.

Andy asked if she questioned Teresa’s saxophone skills and Margaret said, ‘They are not really great.’

Andy asked if she questioned Teresa’s decision to not include her sister-in-law Melissa in her bridal party.

‘That was brutal to announce it on TV,’ said Margaret.

Andy said she didn’t announce it but that he asked.

‘She was honest about it,’ said Margaret. ‘I’m sure she would make her wear an ugly dress anyway. ‘

He asked her if she questioned Teresa reconciling with Danielle Staub, 59, and bringing her back into the group.

Margaret said, ‘I had liked Danielle when she was first in the group anyway so I thought it was fine.’

One viewer asked Margaret how she found out about Bill Aydin’s affair and if she was digging for it at the time.

‘No, prior to Jennifer even getting on the show, it was common knowledge,’ said Margaret.

One viewer asked her if she thought Jennifer was more upset that the perception of her marriage was ruined.

‘I think it was hard to have that pulled back,’ said Margaret.

Andy asked her why she was so concerned about Teresa’s love life when she never brings up anything about her.

‘I think I was very concerned right from the beginning because things did come out,’ said Margaret. ‘Just address it. Let him speak for himself. It’s not a big deal. Unfortunately when he did speak for himself, he lied about it on camera.’

Another viewer pointed out to Margaret that Jennifer never said that Teresa asked her to dig on the Evan rumors and wondered if she would agree that she was just stirring the pot. 

Margaret said that Jennifer insinuated that Teresa told her to call and later that Jennifer fully admitted it on Andy’s show.
