Who is Mo’Nique?
Monique Angela Hicks was born on December 11, 1967 in Baltimore County, Maryland as the youngest of four children.
She attended Morgan State University and got her big break after she was encouraged to perform an impromptu performance local comedy club’s club open mic night in 1988.
Eventually leaving her position as a customer service representative for a phone company, she began performing professionally along the East End and soon opening for musicians and appearing in television specials.
Transitioning into acting, she starred for five seasons in the role of single mother “Nikki Parker” on the sitcom The Parkers. as a dramatic actress in Shadowboxer (2005).
Film roles soon followed as she gained acclaim for her portrayed of the violent and sexually abusive Mary Lee Johnston in Lee Daniels’s Precious (2009).
The role earnt her numerous accolades including her very first Oscar win in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

In 2010, the disgraced sibling admitted and apologised for his behavior on Oprah and said “he had broken trust.”
