Why is Jamie Lynn Spears on Good Morning America?

Spears, 30, appeared on Good Morning America on January 12, in her first TV interview regarding her upcoming personal memoir.

During the emotional interview with GMA’s Juju Chang, Spears talked about her journey with becoming a mom at the young age of 17, as well as the pressure from her family.

She also revealed that her family had sent her away to a remote cabin, where she had no contact with the outside world for weeks.

“It felt like I was suffocating… I felt like what was I going to do, I was just a kid,” Spears told Change when asked about why her story makes her emotional all these years later.

“Maybe this isn’t my best interest and maybe this is what I’m supposed to do because of course I don’t want to be hounded by the paparazzi or the tabloids and allow them to control my narratives but it felt like I was really being alienated,” she continued.

Her memoir, Things I Should Have Said, is scheduled to be released on January 18, 2022.

The interview was to promote her upcoming memoir, however, she also discussed her relationship with her sister Britney

What did Jamie say about her sister?

During the interview, Spears also spoke about her sister Britney, 40, and their relationship, revealing that she tried to help her end the controversial conservatorship.

“I’ve always been my sister’s biggest supporter,” she said. “So when she needed help, I set up ways to do so. Went out of my way to make sure that she had the contacts she needed to possibly go ahead and end this conservatorship and just end this all for our family. If it’s going to cause this much discord, why continue it?”

“Everyone has a voice, and it should be heard,” she continued.

While she did not reveal which “contacts” she was referring to, she did reveal that she had a conversation with Samuel D. Ingham III, Britney’s former lawyer who resigned in July 2021.

“If she wanted to talk to other people, then I did [help]. I set that up,” Spears told Chang. “I even spoke to her previous legal team, and that did not end well in my favor.”

Her statement comes after Birtney testified in June 2021 that her family “did nothing” to help her when her father, Jamie Spears, allegedly put her in a mental health facility against her will in 2019.

Britney’s conservatorship ultimately ended in November 2021, after 13 years.

“That love is still there. 100 percent. I love my sister,” she added. “I’ve only ever loved and supported her and done what’s right by her, and she knows that, so I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.”

The two are reportedly not on the best terms at this time.
