SHOOTINGS over the weekend left three people killed and five injured in Chicago, police said.

One of the victims was a 17-year-old boy who was shot in front of a home on the South Side.

He was standing in the driveway of a home just before 2.30am on Saturday morning when he was shot in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital where he died, according to local ABC affiliate WLS-TV.

The teen was the fifth person killed this year in the area of Washington Heights, the outlet reported.

Two people were shot the night before, one fatally, during a fight also on the South Side.

Just before 8pm on Friday, someone opened fire during a fight in the 1500 block of East 61st Street, police said.

A 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, WLS-TV reported.

A 31-year-old was struck in the hand and taken to the same hospital in fair condition, police said.

Later that night, a 27-year-old man was found on a sidewalk in the 2000 block of West 35th Street with a gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Another 17-year-old boy was shot in Lawndale on the West Side.

The teen was walking on the sidewalk in the 1800 block of South Springfield Avenue just after 1am Saturday morning.

He was shot in the left hand and was taken to the hospital in fair condition, police reported.

There were nine homicides in the community last year during this same time period.

At least 67 teens and children have been shot in Chicago this year, which is four more than last year in the same time frame.

At least 14 of those victims were killed.
