Maurice Benard has paid a happy heavenly birthday tribute to his father who he describes as being the ‘life of the party.’ To mark the milestone, Benard shared an insight into their unbreakable bond with a video of his dad dancing, singing and laughing.

Maurice Benard’s ‘heavenly’ birthday tribute to dad
General Hospital‘s Maurice Benard (Sonny) has opened up about his personal battles with mental health over the years on his podcast, State Of Mind. The actor has also spoken candidly about dealing with grief, as sadly, he is no stranger to loss.
In October 2021, Benard lost his father, Humberto Morales, who was a bakery superintendent. Benard often goes through photos and videos of his dad, especially as it was his birthday on September 5th.
The General Hospital soap veteran shared a video of Morales dancing with a mariachi band and singing in Spanish. The heartfelt video shows the duo laughing together as Maurice films his father, a beautiful way to remember Humberto.
In the caption, Maurice wrote: “If you were ever at one of my parties, then you knew my dad was not just the life of the party he was the party!!!” Followed by, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD
”
Fans flooded the comments section with birthday wishes and loving support for the actor.
One touching comment reads: “Thank God for old photos and videos of our loved ones.

Maurice Benard’s tributes to dad Humberto
Benard has shared many tributes to his father, a previous one shows him singing with his dad and son, Joshua. The next is Benard asking his father why he only likes Frank Sinatra, and another sees Humberto declare that he watches GH every day, “rain or shine.”
Maurice even revealed Humberto had his own opinions on the GH storylines, as every devoted soap fan does. Benard later explained his dad didn’t like “Carly and Jason as a couple.”
Another phrase Benard lives by that his father had left him with is: “What’s going to happen, it’s gonna happen, don’t worry.” Something Humberto would say in Spanish.
Maurice Benard posts more throwback snaps
Benard loves posting old throwback photos, but this time he shared a decades-old snap of himself.
In the black and white shot, he can be seen wearing a patterned sweater, necklace and a goatee. In the caption, Benard wrote “Yes/No” asking for advice on the look from followers.
Fellow General Hospital co-star Evan Hofer (Dex) was optimistic about his style writing “YES” while Cameron Mathison (Drew) wrote “Yesssssss.” Although not everyone was so keen, former castmate Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda) mysteriously wrote : “Maybe.”
What’s next for Sonny on General Hospital?
A recent Twitter post from GH’s executive producer Frank Valentini showed Sonny Corinthos looking a little angry, noting, “Sonny doesn’t look happy that’s never good.”
A fan replied: “Sonny’s not happy cause you’ve ruined the character.”
But Maurice Benard replied, “I think I’ve been hearing that for 29 1/2 years.”
He also responded with another post, saying: “Wait till you see what’s coming up in the next month, the acting that’s been going on @duelly87 (Chad Duell) is unreal.
“You can’t make everybody happy I learned that a long time ago. Talk is cheap, in the end acting will prevail.”
